I just got 23 l/100 km (10.3 mpg US) towing my 8500lb 5th wheel with a 1000lb of utility trailer and quad behind that. I was traveling at 55 to 60 mph. I get over 20mpg (US) on the highway traveling empty at 116km/hr 72mpg (I've got 24 at 60mph). You aren't going to get good mileage at 80mph.

With no traffic and a straight run of 28 miles to work I can get 22mpg. With traffic and stop and go it drops to 18 or so. When it gets NEAR the trailer it gets 9 or 10. I have a 3.55 rear. The gas mileage actually dropped when I got the K02's.
Truth be told, if I was in a different situation (I am recently retired but still needing a reasonable daily driver while doing referral work for a defense contractor) I'd probably bag the EB and shop for a nicely outfitted F250.

I have 2013 ecoboost, 4x4, 3.73, with 6.5' bed; pulls great. I have a 2017 flagstaff 27BHWS around 6700lbs dry. With my family (6 in all) and all our stuff we average around 7.5-8mpg. What are you guys see?

Exactly that. Along with coolant temps pushing 240 if I try to keep it at 65-70.

I guess I don't understand how people get such poor gas mileage with their ecoboost. There has to be some behavior that some do and others dont. On a recent 240 mile trip (mostly highway) I got 24mpg running 65-70. Over the course of a tank of fuel, mixing in stop and go traffic, highway, backroads, etc, I have never been under 20. I have the 3.55 gears. Do you just keep your foot on the pedal at all times? If you are spooling the turbos you are burning gas. If I'm on the highway driving 65 (just as an example), I am pressing the throttle probably 1 out of every 3 seconds, and even then I'm barely putting any input into the throttle. Once I am up to speed the truck has a tendency to just go without a much throttle input. The only reason I bring this up is because for a long time the common thought was that using cruise control is better for fuel economy, but I have found that using cruise on my ecoboost kills my fuel economy, and I suspect it is based on throttle input. Maybe its just a coincidence, not sure

There are way to many variables to ever have direct comparisons in fuel economy amongst different users. Elevation, roads, tire pressure, tire size cab configuration, accessories, gearing, temperature, maintenance, driving habits, etc all play into it. It is perfectly normal for one person to get 18 MPG and another to get 22 MPG with the same truck.
I can compare my 2500 Ram with the 6.4 to My Ecoboost because pretty much all variables are the same with the exception of the truck itself. I Drive the same roads, pull the same loads, etc..
My Ecoboost would pull 22.??? heading to FLA from NC with me, wife and two daughters and all our gear for a week a Disney and the AC running.
AL the variables the same, going to visit family in WV I could typically see 17.5-18 MPG because its one frecon interstate hill after another.

We had a 2013 FX4 3.55 axle and averaged 16 mpg mixed highway and city. We traded it for a 15 F350 6.7 which gets 15 mpg mixed highway and city driving. My wife missed the 150 so much, we recently acquired a 2014 Platinum 3.73 axle for her to use as a daily driver. Unfortunately, in the same driving conditions, she is getting an average of 14 mpg.
(All of the above are shortbed 4X4's)
I hear about others getting significantly better mileage and wonder, what in the heck arevwe doing wrong?

The 3.5 Eco is a reliable, power breathing monster. Its true the first couple years of the engine had some isolated problems but the later years it's rock solid. I just traded my 3 1/2 year old 2014 F-150 3.5 EB with 3.73s at 42k miles. The entire time I didn't have to do anything other than put gas, change the oil, and rotate the tires. I always ran premium as Ford even stated that the motor could pull up to 20 additional hp on higher octane fuel.
Traded up last week to a '17 F-250 PSD due to the limited cargo capacity, a problem caused when we traded up to a newer, heavier TT this spring. I can only hope the PSD gives me the same trouble-free years that the EB gave me.

I get 24-25 mpg on the hwy at 70 mph with my 2.7L Ecoboost. If I keep it under 65 mph on the hwy I've had as high as 27 mpg. Around town I see between 20-21 mpg sometimes 22. It drops a lot when towing due to the sail. There I see 10-13 mpg depending upon driving conditions. This is compared to my old 2001 Explorer which was pretty much 18-20 mpg whether on the hwy or in town. It got 9-12 mpg towing.

The 6.7 should give you years of dependable service. I drove a new one and compared to my 6.0 it was night and day. I have a '16 3.5 F150. If I ever get 5W I would look at the 6.7 SD.

I have found that my mpg can take a big hit in local driving if the engine never has a chance to warm up. The drop is more than I saw in my older vehicles which also had V6 engines. For me it occurs if I am making a lot of one or two mile trips when I stay around the house.

I own a 2017 3.5 EcoBoost (Max Tow Pkg) and tow a trailer weighing approx 6,100 pounds. A very solid platform. The truck is super quiet at highway speed has gobs of smooth power and torque. Effortless towing. No negative issues thus far.

My buddy with the 2.7 litre EB can get 20 easy not towing but I am not close.

I've got the same drivetrain in my crew cab 4x4 and have been getting 19.8-20.3 mpg going back and forth between southeast Tennessee and north central North Carolina (435 miles each way). It actually has a towing tune installed that has it at 415 HP/445 ft lbs on 87 octane.
Towing the 5'er (8700 lbs) over the same 435 mile trip, it averaged 8.9 mpg. The route I take is up the Smokey Mountain Expressway into Asheville, then east on I-40, where there's a few 6-7% grades.
Braking is the only weak link on my setup. I've upgraded to heavier duty rotors and ceramic pads which has helped with the warped rotors I was experiencing.
