Question WD Hitch Setup Question

I'm curious as to what I should do when I set up the hitch on my new truck next spring. Have you folks had your TV & TT empty or loaded during the setup procedure?

When I setup the hitch this year on my truck, both were empty. I noticed on the trip to Indy that the rear of my truck was lower. I had more gear than normal in the box including my generator.

When I picked up the TT in Elkhart both the TV and TT were empty. I set up the hitch IAW the manual. Before our first camping trip I adjusted the hitch with the TV and TT loaded for camping. In my case this involved turning the shank around and adding more washers. Adjusting the hitch yourself is not difficult. If you have any problems call the Progress number in the installation manual or post on this forum.

What type of Hitch?

We have the Equilizer 4 way sway control 1000/10000LB and I set it up with both trailer and truck empty then aftet I towed loaded the first time I adjusted the setup. The back of the truck sat lower with both loaded

It's the Husky bent bar type hitch.

It is best to set it up loaded, otherwise you will have to adjust it once you are loaded up for camping. The extra weight is going to make a difference on how the hitch is set up. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, when I set up the hitch back in the spring I didn't really have my RVing "kit" put together. Now after a few trips I know what I usually have in the truck & trailer. When I set up the hitch for the new truck next spring, I'll load up as if I was heading on a trip.

The hitch instructions explain how to make your adjustments, but make no mention of doing it unloaded or loaded.
