WDH/air bag question

Do you all let the pressure out of the bags, connect the wdh and then air back up? I see threads where you are supposed to let all the air out before jacking up the vehicle to do maintenance/r&r tire so the bags don't rip. My thought is that since you have to connect and then jack the backend with the TT jack to get bars in that the bags may need to be let out of air before doing so for the same reason.

Still playing with it to get a feel. Also noticed that the U bracket bolts that hold the bag in place get a little loose. I put some blue loctite on it but one still seems to loosen up a bit. I may want to try red but I don't want it welded up and can't get it off one day.

Thanks as always!
Matt

Factory, or otherwise? I have factory rear air (no springs) and leave it as is when hooking up. When disconnecting I'll disable the system so the truck doesn't rise up as I'm try to disconnect the trailer. When disconnecting I can put it in transport mode to drop the rear to the bumpstops so I don't have to raise the trailer so high.

As long as the rear tires are not suspended off the ground you will be fine leaving the 5lb minimum in the bags while hooking up. As stated before I let mine down to the 5lb minimum before I disconnect to save a little jacking.

Don't they recommend leaving a little PSI at all times to prevent any pinching or slipping out of place?

They do, 5 psi

I've been leaving in a little more 10 so I don't have to mess with it when I'm loading other trailers.

Good point about the tires! Makes more sense! Thanks!

I inflate the bags and then hook up the wdh and trailer. I deflate once the trailer is disconnected.

Ok, that was another question whether to inflate to 10 before or after booking up as I was at 7.5 before hooking up the first time and it was just about right. I did 10 after it was hooked up on the way home and it wasn't as good.

The drive up was nice! I should've left it alone. I'll know better next time. No propoising on the way up at all. I typically screw things up trying to improve. One of these days I'll learn

I don't call it a failure, I always describe it as a successful experiment. Now you know what to adjust them to
