The real bottom line is that E4 has 'side-to-side' friction sway control brackets built into the hitch head. The E4 and E2 both have the same friction points on the 'L' brackets. The E4 has 4 friction points and the E2 has 2 friction points. The E2 is a weight distribution hitch with limited sway control capability. The E4 is a weight distribution hitch with a much greater sway control capability because of the lateral friction points in hitch head brackets and is also much more expensive.

You'll be happy with the Equalizer.

I use the 4pt equalizer and when I purchased mine the dealer recommended these things called Sway Bracket Jacket to keep the noise down. Sway Bracket Jacket (pair) [95-01-5150] - $19.95 : Equal-i-zer Hitch Store They go on the sway control bracket that mounts on the trailer where the spring bars engage.
This WDH is so quiet I never hear it. I did have a chain type WDH with a sway control bar before the Equalizer and man was that thing noisy. My girls said it sounded like the trailer was "pooting".

Yes, the plastic sway bar jackets are worth the money. Almost no noise when using them. Highly recommend.
