WDH spring bar angle?

I have a ProEagle WDH (w/sway control) that the dealer set up for me when we bought our MiniLite and I've never had a problem with it or the way our TT tows. But now I will be moving it to a much larger TV (but pulling the same trailer) and know that the hitch should probably be re-adjusted for the new TV, so I've been reading thru the ProEagle manual.

It says that the ball head angle should be adjusted (via washers) "...in order to gain correct downward angle of spring bars." But it never says what the "correct angle" should be. I've googled and watched youtube videos and, even though the "correct spring bar angle" is mentioned numerous times, NO ONE ever explains what it should be or how to determine what it should be. Any info or pointers greatly appreciated.

FWIW: my Equalizer manual says measure the front fender height loaded and unloaded. Then add washers to the shank head in order to bring the front fender down about 1/2 of the amount it went up when loaded, while trying to "keep the spring arms parallel with the trailer frame."

If you've added all the washers and still can't get the front down, then you remove the washers, raise the brackets on the trailer frame 1", and start over.

You should just have to adjust the ball height down if your new truck sits higher. The hitch head should be adjustable with a couple of bolts that hold the hitch head on the shank.

There is a thread about the hitch from 2012. It looks like a normal round bar with chain hitch. Try to get close to parallel and just like the equalizer you want the front fender to be at least half way back to what it was before adding trailer without the chains engaged.

Just piling on with those who recommend getting the front fender height right: What's critical for WDH's isn't so much the angle of the bars as is how much "distributing" the WDH is actually accomplishing. When the distance from the front fender to the ground is about halfway in between the unloaded and loaded distances for that fender, then the WDH is properly adjusted.

From what I gather this ProEagle system is a round bar torsional system? As with any system like this, when properly adjusted for correct weight distribution, the bars should run evenly parallel with the a-frame (trailer hitch frame), with no more than a 10° variance of the 180° (level) plane of the trailer frame.

^ ^ What DW said... I have read many posts for a number of different hitches that recommend the same. WD bars should be roughly parallel with the trailer frame when under tension and both trailer and TV on level ground. You add or remove washers from the hitch head to adjust the tension needed to distribute the tongue weight properly.

Thanks for the responses. I now know that when everything is hooked up the TV should be back to (very close to) its original posture, the TT should be level and the spring bars parallel to the TT a-frame.

But I am moving from a larger SUV TV to a 2500HD with max tow package. I doubt that my 3800# trailer will make nearly as much of an impression on it as it did on the SUV so I expect I will have to make adjustments. Now I know how. Thanks.
