WDH spring bar storage

Did a search...

I've got some ideas for storing my spring bars, but would like to see what others have done.

I've been leaving the rest of the WDH on the truck, but maybe I should pull it and lock it to the trailer.

What do you do?

Anyone? Anyone, Bueller?

I usually just put it all in my front storage of the TT when parked.

I have two battery boxes and just put them across the top when parked at a site. In storage, I put them in my outside storage area in the trailer.

When we had a tt, I made brackets for the V tongue and locked them to the tongue

I should have mentioned that the trunnion (vertical) end of mine are greasy.

When at the campground or in the storage lot, I'm looking to minimize mess as well as deter theft.

Maybe I just need to be carefull I don't rub 'em on something...

I'm considering something much like that, except I would need tubes to slide the trunnion into.

And I was thinking with a long-shanked padlock I could lock the wdh chains to the breakaway chains.

The trunnions were greasy on mine also.

Thanks, I like what you did.

Mine are 'L' shaped, with the trunnion about 8" long. That's why I'm thinking about dropping it in a tube.

Either that, or fabricating a cover. like a 10" piece of PVC that would slide over and clip in place.

Your "L" shaped bars would fit in the brackets I made.

I've seen this idea, not sure it it'll work on your TT. I'm planning to add something like this to my TT this spring to the small storage door on the side, right up front.

Went to Walmart in sporting goods found a padded rifle case with an outside pocket $10. Greasy bars go in the main compartment. Locks and pins in the outside pocket. Case goes in front storage compartment.

I made a plywood box the same length as my bars...when at campsite, put swaybars and springbars in it and stored in the bed of the truck. I have a cap on the truck.
The rreceiver stayed on the truck locked on the hitck the greasy ball covered with a rubber cap.

I lay mine across the tongue, and cover them with legs from an old pair of jeans. I store them with the trunnion connection nested into the crooks (Reese spring bars) and just use 1 cover per end.

I have done the same. I made a nice plywood box with some handgrips in the end. It can stay in the back of the truck under a locked tonneau cover. I put all the pins, sway bar and pipe to tights get the bars.

This site is full of great suggestions! Thanks, all!

So... Does anybody store the TT with the entire WDH attached/assembled and in place? Now I'm thinking if I can pull the square shank out of the truck and put the ball back in the tongue, with the spring bars in the head, then all the greasy parts will be assembled and thus protected. Just need to lock it all together for security... Plus I won't be running around with that big ball head on the back of my truck.

Me thinks the hitch head would tilt forward with the spring bars up in the air.......plus that is a lot of trouble.
