A coworker of my wife, a couple of years ago, was buying one to be towed by their Toyota Sienna. I told my wife to tell her they will be over their limit once the load up with battery, propane and other supplies. They didn't listen and paid later in engine repairs. Thank you for the example. The first real world limitation on towing with a minivan (or any non-turbo 6 cylinder SUV or truck) is frontal area of the trailer. Such vehicles flat run out of power, torque, and transmission trying to pull more than 40-50 sq ft through the air at highway speeds, especially in the windy Midwest and West. Some vehicle manufacturers do include this limitation in their tow limits.
