I just thought I would come back and post an update to my thread now that I have some seat time using the E2 1k trunnion hitch. Hopefully this helps someone later who is searching with the same question I had.
First, while the trailer (195bh) is relatively light, most of the storage, especially for large items, is up near the tongue, and I estimated I could easily have another 300lb of tongue weight above the empty 400lbs. Add in coolers and such in the back of the truck behind the axle and 800+ seemed possible, so I went w/ the 1k bars.
Towing it w/o the WDH wasn't bad, but it's a whole different experience with the hitch. On my initial test drive after installing the hitch, I hadn't even left my development before I was saying WOW. The pop-up I used to tow would jerk and bounce the truck around more than the TT does now w/ the hitch. The whole truck is that much more stable and drives so much more like it does when not towing anything.
The sway control may have proven beneficial a couple of times already. Once when I had to swerve around some debris in the road and again with some strong crosswinds on the highway. Though I never really had sway issues the short time I towed w/o the WDH.
With the trailer and truck empty (e.g. when I take it to/from our storage lot when even the battery is removed) the WDH feels a bit over-sprung. In that case a regular WDH w/ chains would be nice since I could just use one less link in the chain. But when fully loaded to/from the campground, it drove just perfect.
To anyone wondering if you should use a WHD for your TT, I say Do It!
I won't say "I couldn't even tell it was behind me," but I will say "it reminded me a whole lot less."
Truck = 2010 F150. Tow guide says 500lb max w/o a WDH.
Fastway 1k E2 Trunnion hitch was $360 from Amazon (incl shipping w/ Prime membership)
I picked up a 3/4" ratchet/socket set from Tractor Supply for $75 to install.
