Weight help
I give up. Have read tons of threads and looking at tow charts, stickers, etc till my head is spinning and laptop is smoking. Apologize for length but trying to give all the details for some informed answers. Here is what I have...
My 2015 F250 is not par for our recent 5'r buy despite all. Tow rates I'm fine even though 5'er has a 16.6 GVWR, I don't see us getting there and so I convinced self we were good; self was wrong. What I didn't take into account was payload! Axle rating, Max weights, etc. Holy cow... pin weight throws payload WAY WEIGH over. So... now trying to determine if SRW F350 will do the trick? Here are some numbers:
Recent weights taken at CAT w/ F250 show:
Truck/Trailer: S-5160 D-6880 TA- 11240 = 23280 combined
Truck Alone: S- 5280 D-4000 = 9280
Does that mean pin weight of 1960# & 5’er overall weight 13200#?
Wantin F350 6.7 4x4 CREW 160"WB SRW. Ford specs shows 13.6K for 3.55 ratio?? That's less than my 2015 F250 rating? Am I not looking at it right? Something not right there.
When looking at stickers of potential trucks I have been seeing GVWR of 11.5, Front axle GAVR 5600 and rear of 7230 but none showing pic of the yellow tire & loading sticker. Not knowing what the truck actually weighs, hard to know what's left of the GVWR for my payload/pin weight.
Before it's said... I know I can go to a DRW and be done but really not wanting a dually if I can avoid it; don't have place to park nor want the added expense of initial cost & maintenance.
Thanks in advance

Sorry I can't help you but I noticed the same last week when I looked at a new '18 Silverado at the dealer. I opened all 4 doors and glove box looking for the yellow tire/load sticker. I didn't find one. Even looked at all the stickers I did find in case the color was changed, found nothing.

With the GVWR for that RV, I wouldn't consider anything less than a DRW. You already see where trying to "make the numbers work" got you.

the 9280 for truck along doesn't seem right, most 3/4 tone are ~10K GVWR, that would leave 740lbs for payload. Also with your number I get ~2700lbs pin weight.

The most my RAM 2500 Diesel weighed loaded for a trip with me the DW and two dogs and gear is 8,980 lbs (I was curious so I ran it across the CAT Scale) so his 9,280 probably isn't far off considering it's a King Ranch with alot of options and anything else he may have been carrying for the weigh in including the 5th wheel hitch. So that does only leave him with 720 lbs of payload left.
I don't believe he mentioned what the door sticker says for payload on the truck ?

Here's how i read the scale info: 23,280 - 9280 = 14,000 weight of 5'er
5160 + 6880 - 9280 = 2760 pin weight

The 13.6K you are seeing is for the optioned downgraded 10k GVRW
21,600(4) – – – – – – – – 13,600
(4) Optional 10,000-lb. GVWR Package. You will have the standard 11.5k.
My door sticker is little over 3400

Ohhh I know the sticker well... NOW! It was when I read those words, "...combined weights...never exceed 1958" I like to fall out knowing I was well over that after seeing the weight of truck. The Ranch Hand brush guard and tool box don't help. The weight was taken with full tank of fuel, me, DW, 2 kids under 13 and the 60lb lab. I have a B&W companion slider which is a monster by itself.
My issue is whether to go go DRW or SRW. I hear Mamba and the DRW; that would be the simplest solution and no questions to be had. Problem is space & costs and it being an every day ride. I'm going this weekend to look at some "stickers" and see what might work.
KHO you said your sticker is little over 3400 and that's for F350 Lariat pictured? A SRW LB CC? Gives me idea of what I'll see. Dealers will put the axle sticker online but yet to see yellow one.
Thanks all for the inputs

Yes mine is a SRW LB CC. With the LB you get the 48 gallon tank. When I bought mine, my door sticker wasn't install either and was placed in the drivers door pocket. I guess they install when they prep after the sell. When I was looking for my truck, I would email dealers and ask for a picture of the sticker. All would send without a problem.

As I read your weight ticket your pin weight is as follows: Truck alone Steer axle 5280 Drive 4000 Total weight of truck = 9280. When the truck and trailer are weighted the steer axle went down by 120 pounds to 5160 and the drive axle was 6880. The trailer weighed 11,240 pounds at the trailer axles. So your pin weight was 2760 pounds and the total trailer weighed 11200 + 2760 = 16720 pounds. But the trailer does not count the pin weight as part of the trailer GCVW rating.

I sux at math but think the total trailer weight is only 13960 using your numbers. Here were the numbers from manuf:
Hitch weight: 2830 (18%)
Unloaded vehicle weight (UVW): 13940
Gross vehicle Weight Rate (GVWR): 16600
Cargo Capacity (CCC): 2660
Obviously their numbers seem high given my weights (20lb diff from UVW to my current weight). If I'm only going to get 3500 or so lbs from a SRW 1 ton, then I gotta look at the options beyond DRW.

You are correct with the 13,960 brain cramp I suppose.
You do not need any more than a Dual rear wheel truck. I have a Crew Cab 4 wheel drive diesel as my tow vehicle and its gvwr is 13,000 pounds in towing form the truck weighs 9,125 pounds with me and wife and a cat. So that amounts to a truck cargo capacity of about 3875 pounds. My pin weight is 3,625 when fully loaded so I have a margin of 250 pounds on the truck GVWR and 250 pounds of GCWR capacity all the other numbers are in the green as well. So a Dual rear wheel truck works well for me you are somewhat heaver than me but a newer truck has greater load numbers also so you would be save with a newer DRW a SRW with less CC would be overloaded I would think. When I look at a 2015 Ford towing guide a SRW F350 crew cab has a GVWR of 11,400 pounds with the 6.7 and the DRW has a CC of 14,000 pounds.

AT 16.6 you are in dually territory IMO.

I believe the Ford HD payloads went up in 2017 with the aluminium body. I don't know what they are but worth checking.

i think you fat fingered your calculator (which i do all the time). 11200+2760=13960, which is roughly the 14000 i came up with taking the GCVW of 23,280 less the unloaded truck of 9280. Still a lot of trailer.
