We had a Windjammer which was probably 9,500 lbs loaded that we pulled 8,500 miles all through the west and southern Canada. No issues with that one, either.

Max tow and payload package?

2012 f150 crew cab with 3.73 gears no max tow pulling a 2012 micro lite 23 lb I'm guessing around 4,500 - 5,000 lbs.

We pull a Coachmen Freedom Express 254DSX with our 2013 EcoBoost. This is a picture of my wife coming out of the camper after our 30 day, 4,800 mile trip from South Alabama to Niagara Falls, MBL, NFL, RV and Rock & Roll Halls of Fame plus many other venues. Truck was absolutely flawless and we maintained an average fuel economy of 12 mpg. It was an absolute pleasure to drive on the trip. We love our F150 EcoBoost.

I pull a Coachmen Apex 288BHS that is around 6500lbs loaded. Truck amazes me every time I tow with it. I use an equalizer wdh and get no sway at all.

2014 XLT Max Tow and 2014 Roo 233s. Weighs about 5500-6000 loaded. Use an Andersen WDH and I'm very comfortable towing this combo.

EDIT: Just realized this pic has my trailer tire marks on the driveway. Clearly I need more practice reversing lol

2015 XLT, 4WD, just over 2k payload pulling 2014 FE 246RKS. Just over 5500lbs loaded for 2 weeks of camping. I use the Andersen WDH and get around 12mpg with a mix of hills and flats, freeway and 2-lane. I just go about 58-60 depending on the road. I like the spread-axle design on the trailer. I think it makes it more stable and balances the trailer a little better. The trailer is 28' ball to bumper.

I have no issues with my combo. I've researched 5th wheels but I wouldn't gain much over what I have now. I know they tow better than a bumper pull, but for now I'm very happy with my truck and trailer. With 2k payload, I could pull a small, 5th wheel with about a 1200lb hitch, but like I said, I'm happy with what I have.

I might get a class C when it gets closer to retirement, but I could live full time or take an extended trip in what I have now.

Towing with the Ford 3.5L Ecoboost

I only have about 500 miles towing experience with my new '16 F-150 with the 3.5L Ecoboost. Truck is a Lariet with 3:55 rear end and Max tow package. 4 wheel drive so max gvcr is 11,700lbs. Supercrew with 5.5' box. I tow a Rockwood mini-lite 2503s. 6200lbs is max loaded weight but I don't carry water and drain the grey/black water tanks before leaving for home if possible. I live in southern Idaho so just about anywhere I go there is a mountain pass or many steep grades both ways. I probably need to slow down, but our freeway speed is 80mph so try not to be a hazard and keep it around 75mph. Truck takes any of those grades just fine at that speed but mpg is averaging 8.3 per vehicle calculator.

Wander if I messed up. I recently bought a 2013 F-150 King Ranch with 3.31 gears. I have a 2017 201BHXL which is about 4300lbs. Upgrading from a 2003 GMC Envoy which pulled this camper with a 4.2l and 2.73 gears. I planned on maybe upgrading to a 26-30 ft camper with slide outs in a year or so. Anyone else have 3.31 gears? The reason I bought is I tow my camper maybe 5-7 times in the summer to daughters sports tournaments. We spent a total of about 9 nights in it this summer but plan on using it more this next summer. I did not take my Envoy out of Ohio but one time to Indy. This next year we plan on taking it to Florida. Will these 3.31 gears pull it through the mountains OK? I do not plan on towing anything else with this truck and its not a daily driver either.

I have the exact same setup. I have a FLYTE 265DB Bunkhouse that advertises a 5190 pound dry weight. We are Tent campers and so we pack light, Im guessing loaded we are still under 5,900 pounds.
I pull through twisty back roads, up and down hills and the interstate.
I lock out 6th gear on the interstate, and stay within 60-65 or so.. and lock out 5th gear on the back roads. The truck has absolutely zero issues pulling the weight. I was hesitant getting the 3:31 gears but like you, pulling the camper is just a small portion of what it does. In 5th gear its still barely 2k RPMS at 62 ish or so..

You're rig is fine even if loaded with another 2000 lbs of stuff. Here are the 2013 F150 Towing Specifications. (always go by the towing specs and not the advice on here) You have the Eco boost? Unless you have your truck overloaded you should be fine on payload. You only lose a little towing capacity over the 3.55. You lose quite a bit more from the 3.73. You will notice an acceleration difference your you drive say the 3.31 to the 3.73 back to back. I have the 3.73 and my buddy a 2015 3.31. We notice a difference taking off from a stop with a lot of weight. Not so much at speed on a level road. I lose a few mpg on the highway but it climbs like a banshee with my 9080# load.

Are your tires rates for that? Most trailer tires are 65 mph max. If that's the case for yours, 10 extra mph is an invitation to overheating and blowouts.
