What are you towing with 3.5 ecoboost?

Got a new F-150 with the 3.5 ecoboost, payload 1750, max towing...stock from the dealer without any after market add on's, with just two in the truck I will have about 1400 left on payload. Looking to pick up new fiver or TT. Was wondering what you were pulling with that truck...something livable for a month or so comfortable is Great. What are you towing, how does it ride under tow any issues, how close on payload? There are some fivers out there with pin weight of about 1400, but I would be maxed out unless there are add on's. I know there is more TT available but was very concerned about swaying and ride quality.

The payload of 1750 it will be a tight to find a 5th wheel. Here is what tow planner says with a 150lbs driver and 5th wheel hitch.

You're adding approximately 400 lbs. to the truck. You have 1,350 lbs. of payload capacity. Fifth wheels typically have 20% - 25% pin weight which gives you a maximum loaded camper weight of 5,400 - 6,750 lbs.

Now a travel trailer maybe a better choice. Here is what towing planner says about 150lbs driver and hitch.

You're adding approximately 250 lbs. to the truck. You have 1,500 lbs. of payload capacity. Travel trailers typically have 10% - 15% tongue weight which gives you a maximum loaded camper weight of 10,000 - 15,000 lbs.

A travel trailer you will exceed you max towing capacity before you reach you max payload. What I would be careful of is the length of the TT that you select - longer the TT the more sway you probably have. I would stay under 30 feet but that just me.

We tow a surveyor RBDS226 with a 2014 F150 Limited, 3.5 ecoboost engine. The truck tows that trailer great, smooth and I always feel in control.

We tow a 312 BHDS 37' tt with a 2014 F150 Lariat max tow 3.5eco and Husky centerline wdh. It tows very well. No sway issues at all.

I tow a Rockwood 2604WS with a '14 F150 Ecoboost. 26 feet of box and 30 feet overall and around 7000 lbs. For me this is about the limit on length for a bumper tow but it does not take much sway to get my attention either. I can tell when trucks go by. It gets worse above 60 MPH, at 60 and below it is not too bad most of the time. I have a single friction anti-sway bar but have changed nothing else, still running the P-metric car tires even.

The truck pulls this weight great and I can do the 55 MPH California limit up about any hill on the interstate. I do have to watch things though because on the longer and steeper hills the truck will begin to overheat if I push the speed. But if I drop to the same 35-45 MPH that the truckers are doing and drop it down a gear I can watch the guage drop back to normal. So very workable for me.

The Ford brake controller is great and for stopping I cannot tell the difference with the trailer in back from no trailer.

I'm towing a Surveyor SC321BHTS with a 2016 F150. 35.5ft long, right about 8k lbs loaded for travel. I won't pretend that I can't tell its back there. Acceleration and braking are no issue but you'll feel it when near a truck.

When we picked up our trailer the dealer took their best guess with adjusting the Husky Centerline WDH. It was way off so chances are that yours is not correct if you have never touched it unless they actually drove the unit and tested it during the install.

Once I adjusted it correctly it made all of the difference in the world. Especially during wind gusts and huge trucks you are passing or are passing you on the interstate. As I said our TT is 37' and I would have no problem going even longer now. It is stable all the way to 70 mph which I hit occasionally down an Ozark mountain. Before I adjusted it is was a bit scary beyond about 60. I normally cruise about 65 now if conditions permit. (good road and not too hot out)

We tow a 2608ws. Weighs in at 6675 loaded for camping. Tows great behind the 2016 with the 6.5 box. Towed it last year with a 2013 economist with the 5.5 box. The 16 pulls it way better with the extra truck length. Last trip out we ran 11.5 mpg Calgary AB to Golden BC.

Our 26FKWS follows our 2012 3.5 EB like a well mannered puppy.

We spend much of our miles wandering the Ozarks. The up and down, round and round intimidates lots of people.

However, the downshift property of the tow mode is AMAZING. I always feel in control.

Our TT grosses out between 7000 and 7500.

Stay on the safe side of the numbers game and you will have a great (and safe) time.

I have a 2013 Eco, no max tow. I have been pulling a Lacrosse 330rst. Total 10k with Reese straight line hitch. No sway, pulls great. I lock out the sixth gear. At 65mph it turns 2000 rpm, trans temp 204 in July along gulf coast. I just take my time and allow enough between me and the vehicle ahead of me

I have 2013 Ford Ecoboost 4x4, tow a 36ft 2015 Windjammer,with 12000lb 4point Equalizer hitch and have no problems .

I have a 2013 and tow a Rockwood 8285WS FW. I'm 50 lbs under rear axle weight limits. Rv weight or truck handling has never been an issue for us. I try to limit myself to 55 MPH and average 10 to 11 MPH.

We tow our 248RBS with our truck. No problems. Most of the time you don't know it's there unless there's a good wind.

I tow a 8289 Rockwood with my 2013 Eco Boost with the max tow package. It pulls more easily that the previous 5.4L F250 I had. I'm a couple hundred pounds over my gross rear axle spec and have air bags to keep the truck level. Like other's have shared, I usually pull between 55 and 60 MPH, not because the pickup won't pull it faster but mileage goes down considerably.

I currently tow a 2011 Flagstaff V-Lite 30WRKSS with a 2012 F-150 eco, 3.73 rear end, Hensley Arrow hitch. I've never weighed it but I suspect it is around 8,500 loaded. No problems towing at all. We had a Windjammer which was probably 9,500 lbs loaded that we pulled 8,500 miles all through the west and southern Canada. No issues with that one, either.

I love the way the color of the truck complements the color scheme of the rv. Total coincidence.
