just got my Class A and had a 2017 jeep grand Cherokee limited and was not flat tow able (not 4x4) so we traded for a 2016 trailhawk that was, but had to have wiring harness installed by dealership at no cost. All traihawks can be flat towed but not sure if you need harness mod. It weighs right at 4000lbs
edit: wiring harness is for electronic front stabilizer to work while moving without having ignition on

2017 4wd Jeep Cherokee weighs 4046 pounds, according to Dinghy Towing Guide. https://images.goodsam.com/newmotorh...inghyGuide.pdf
MBS motorhome has a GVWR of 11,030 pounds and GCWR of 15250 pounds. If you are loaded up to maximum weight on your motorhome, and it’s very likely that you are, then adding the Jeep and it’s tow bar and brake equipment etc will probably put your rig right at the limit or possibly over for Gross Combined Weight Capacity.
I wouldn’t care at all about straining the engine. The engine can only deliver what it can deliver. It’s the chassis, brakes, handling and possibly the transmission that I’d be worried about.

JEEPS are not all 4-down towable - UNLESS they have manual 4-wheel drive, like Wranglers, or they have ACTIVE DRIVE II, which comes with a 'neutral' button for the AWD/4WD transmission case.
If yours doesn't have this, then no, it's not. But, you can always tow dolly it.
I had a 07 4-door 2WD, and no, couldn't tow it.
I had a 14 Cherokee Latitude, loved it, but no, no ActiveDriveII, so no tow : /
My 14 Fiesta and 14 Focus work wonderful, though!

That's a good process, and the one I used. Although I would not 100% trust the dinghy guide. I also reviewed many different years of the guide.
Another source would be Remco towing. Poke your toad candidate in their system and it will tell you if towable as-is or needs additional stuff that Remco might sell.
In the end, I found some vehicles that met my criteria, studied the owner's manual, then went to the forums to see if there were problems with the vehicle I selected (like that Ford Escape mentioned above).

Only the 4x4 with the neutral switch for the transfer case. The only 2019 and 2020 with this option are the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawks. The other can not be towed. So make sure you ask the dealer or do good research before you buy. If you can find one already setup then you know for sure. I've been looking for 2+ months. And finally bought a 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Elite. We take it in Thursday to have it setup.
Tow bar and equipment is a whole nother thread. I went with NSA ready brake, blue ox base plate (easier to install on on our jeep) and Roadmaster tow bar. Also wiring harness for tail lights and brake away switch. Just a little under $3500 to have it done. Which breaks downs to $2500 parts, $1000 labor and uncle Sam. Good luck. And don't be afraid to ask questions and questions the answers till you understand.

I would read the owners manual.and read the dinghy guide posted earlier. Not all manual transmission are the same. There are still parts moving inside the transmission that won't get oiled.

A list?
I am flumoxed that no one has ever compiled a list of what's flat towable or not. In this internet age I thought I would find someone who has done that, but alas I'm building a list as I go looking for our own flat towing vehicle. Fortunately, manual shift is quite often flat towable and we've had manual shift cars since 1980 so that's an easier search for us. But even still we need to see each owner manual to see if it states the car is flat towable.
