Backup Camera/ Monitor mount

The other day I installed a Haloview M7108 backup camera.

Our camper is older, and has no factory provision for a camera, so I had to cut harness and direct wire it to the marker light wiring.

The camera monitor came with 2 different style mounts. I chose one of them, and today, I fabricated a removable post to attach the monitor to.

I found a console bolt to attach to...

Light is shining at the area...

I made this thing...

Here's the bracket tightened to the console bolt...

Stuck the included mount to my post plate...

...Monitor attached...

Trying it out...

As it sits in the cab...

Best thing is, is that when the monitor isn't being used, it unscrews from the base plate, and this cell phone holder can be screwed in.......

Or, nothing at all!

Also, added Timbrens on Saturday. Can't wait to try them out. We're heading out on Tuesday....

First time towing with this truck, too.

I never liked the factory shocks on our truck and I’ve noticed them getting soft recently. I put some adjustable Ranchos on the rear to try out. The issue is Rancho does not list (not many companies, actually) a shock for the rear or rear air suspension Ram 2500s so I had to do some research and experiment. They ended up working out great, I have to set them to 6/7 to be where I like empty and it’s firmer than the factory ones ever were. I tried Ranchos on our ‘02 Dodge 1500 and wasn’t impressed but I really like the feel of these.

I used the rancho 9000 on my old 03 chevy for yrs even had to replace them 4 times under warranty in a 15 yr period . Problem i had with them was the adjuster becomes hard to turn after awhile . other wise they were good shocks . new truck got the billsteins

You can't go wrong with Bilsteins. I have 4600's that were dealer installed as part of a SSI package when I bought the truck in 2004. They are a superior shock when it comes to our roads with frost heaves and dips. After 15 Alaska winters they still perform great! When I decide to get a new rig, it'll have Bilsteins on it.

So far i'm happy with the bilsteins . been on the truck for about 7000 miles and are much better then stock also i don't have to crawl under truck to adjust the dampening like i did with the rancho's . i got the 5100 's

Bilstein doesn't list 5100s for the rear either, just the 4600s which I don't want. I put Bilsteins struts and shocks on our Tiguan last year and they don't have enough rebound dampening so it feels a bit bouncy for our roads. Didn't want to risk it on this vehicle. Rancho recommends grease to prevent the adjuster from corroding. Happened on our previous truck and that's what their customer service recommended and they sent new adjusters in case I broke them trying to free them up. I asked them if they still recommend it and they said if I wanted I could put some lithium grease in there. I used dielectric last time.

Not knocking the rancho's good shocks . i just got tired of using pliers to turn the adjusters and crawling under the truck to do so every time i hooked up . had them on my old truck for a long time . though i did go through replacements every few yrs at least their warranty was super and never a problem replacing all 4 when needed . You will like them when towing .

And I'm not knocking Bilstein. I wanted adjustable shocks again for towing and not ready to spend the big bucks on something like King shocks just yet.

Brought home a new one. Well, not today - this past Saturday actually. Just finding time to post now.

Traded a 2011 Sierra SLE Extended Cab 1500 for a 2018 Silverado LTZ 2500 HD Duramax Crew Cab.

Had been looking to go bigger for a while and things finally came together last week.

Installed a OBDI II splitter to be able to keep a ScanGauge II and a BetterWeigh Tow scale plugged in at the same time. Or, for any other reason....

Haven't towed with it - yet. That's coming. After a WDH readjustment to account for the new mule.

I started typing up a really long insomnia curing story about how we wound up here. But then thought better of it because it's amazingly boring.
