I paid just under $32K for my 2013 F150 SCrew 3.5L EB 5.5' bed 4x4 XLT (302A with rear view camera, sliding rear glass, IBC, chrome package, etc.), tow mirrors(dealer added), 3.55 EL rear axle, 20" wheels. If my truck hadn't had the 20's and had the 301A package, and no tow mirrors, I could have come in at under $30K. Now, the 2015's are a little more expensive and the rebates nowhere near as good. In my area, you can get one setup like mine for ~$38K. About the same price as a similarly equipped F250 with the gas engine.

The terms 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton and 1 ton are meaningless now. "1/2 ton" payloads range from ~900 pounds to over 3K depending upon configuration. 3/4 tons range from ~1500 to probably over 4K. My Dad has a 2007 Ford Ranger that has a listed payload of over 1200 pounds- 30%+ over what some 1/2 tons list as capacity. Of course, some of us think those numbers have a lot more to do with registration requirements, warranty issues, marketing and lawyers than true capability, but.....

You should be able to buy a car anywhere in the US and then pay the taxes when you register it in Cali???

Once again, rebates are currently only $2250 if you finance with FMCC. I had $7500 when I bought mine. They probably won't get that aggressive for a while on the new body style, though. I would bet that all trucks are higher in your area, so a similarly equipped F250 gas would probably be similarly priced.

I paid $46K for my Ram 2500 last July. It's a Lone Star package (slightly dolled-up SLT). MSRP was almost $58K but I get almost the employee price through a program where I work... no haggling. The only haggling is on a trade-in price if you go that way. My '11 F-150 cost me $27K through the same program and I got $21K for it on trade with 59K miles on it... so it wasn't so bad. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Well after all your help on here bought me a new truck. Picking up a 2015 2500 duramax on Saturday (putting on the tow mirrors and line-x). Thank you all for your insight, but keep it coming, I now have a diesel to learn all about...

No pics yet, but here's the link to the truck at the dealership:

Great choice! You will love driving that thing on the hills. If you ever have a question about your truck, I recommend visiting Duramaxforum.com. There is a great group of knowledgable people on there.

NICE!!! You'll just love it.

ps You need to add running boards so your DW can climb in for the ride.

Did that a few weeks ago to replace my 05 2500HD gasser (6.0). Now getting to the destination is as much fun as being there. You will not be sorry. A few points. Dealer might not tell you but it comes with 2yr 24K included maint ( including DEF). I recommend adding a grill over the space in the bumper for the Trans cooler ( will pm you with my solution). You will love the integrated trailer brake. You will need to purchase two HD quick links as the 2500HD has a glass four hitch and most safety chain hooks will not fit in the holes on the receiver. Found that out the hard way when I was hooking up for first time.

Thank you good to know. They have not said anything about the maintenance yet but I will ask.

Steps were ordered already, lol. On the test drive she needed a boost! Hahaha!

I went through the same decision lately when i bought my '15 F250. I was leaning towards gas, but several good friends talked me into the diesel, especially for heavy towing. I am very glad I went with the diesel. My trailer (WnP 30WLA) is somewhere around 9500-10k fully loaded. The truck tows it with ease. At 60-65, the thing just chugs along at 1500 rpm. When I need to speed up, there's no 1 or 2 downshifts. It usually doesn't downshift at all, the 700-800 ft lb for torque makes it seem easy.

One thing that my neighbor showed me was the difference is resale value. The diesel trucks normally hold their value much better. Yes, you pay more for the motor up front, but you make up for it in the end.

I've only got 1100 miles on the truck so far, but I'll never own a gas truck again as long as I'm towing anything over 6 or 7k pounds. The towing is that much easier and smoother.

Yes I agree...never go back to a gasser. I had a 2006 f150 w/5.4 in it and just traded it in on a 2014 Dodge 3500 w/a Cummins and what a joy to drive and tow with.

Thats a lot more truck than a 150 series. A friend of mine has one and he says it's the best truck he's ever had.

That is something a lot of people look past for some reason. My 07' Duramax new cost 44k. It is 8 years old now with 80,000 miles and I could sell it all day long for 35k.

And I understand that not all diesels hold their value that well. I can buy an 06' Ford 6.0 for less than an 01' Ford 7.3. The 01-04.5 LB7 Duramax's also don't hold their value very well because of their injector issues.

Yes the 3500 is alot more truck than the 150 but the wife and I want to get bigger camper so I went with it. Plus I got a hell of a deal on it. Dealer had it marked down to get rid of it since it was a 2014 model. This should last me a good long time.
