What is this called?

Everyone has probably seen this pop up on the forest river forum. My question is the bar on the front of the TV holding up the canoe. It looks like its attached to the tow hooks on the front of the TV. Didn't know they made such a thing, anyone know what it's called or where to buy?

It's simply called a canoe rack. Do a search and you'll find plenty

Boat / Canoe / Kayak carrier... See Here for an example. We carried a small fishing boat this way for years when I was a kid... Ours swiveled so you could mount the boat's transom on to the carrier then lift and pivot the boat on to the roof cross bars on our station wagon.

Perhaps I'll be more clear. In this picture the bar in front is connected to the tow hooks. No need to install a front hitch receiver. I've searched canoe rack but have never seen one that attaches to the tow hooks in front.

The pic you included is a hitch mounted unit. The blue tiedowns are steadying the side to side sway.

It looks like there are straps from the support post to the tow hooks. Not sure if the post itself is mounted to the tow hooks.

I can't see it clear enough on my computer to tell for sure, but could it just be the straps you are seeing attached to the tow hooks, like these below:

OK, I played with it in some image resizers. It appears to me that it's just the angle you are seeing it from.

I seem to be able to make out a center bracket going down under the front bumper to a receiver hitch (like in the pic above in post #8), as I seem to be able to make out it doing the L.

I think you may just be seeing the passenger side strap going to the tow hook, and then the center support...and from the angle it may look like the driver side strap, but you can't see it really at all.

So my opinion is, it's like the one in the pic I previously posted.

Maybe someone with better software can confirm or refute.

Thank you for the blown up image. It does look like straps are connected to tow hooks. I can now see the bar extended to the hitch.

Transom carrier would need front mount hitch.

Think it was like this one on back of a Suburban. My dad and I used one like this many years ago when towing our travel trailer. The ford Truck is like in OP photo and Im guessing has straps or bars added to tow hook mounts for bracing. See eide boat loader | We Put Fun Back In Fishing

That one of the Suburban looks a lot like ours did. The only problem was loading and unloading the boat constantly.... When my Dad upgraded to a 14 foot aluminum fishing boat, with an outboard engine, he broke down and bought a trailer.
