What’s up??

Last trip out was a white knuckle tide. Haven’t had problem before. Even minivans would push me around.
2016 Ford F150, tow package, long WB, well within wt. limits, WDH. Friction sway control. Truck also has electronic sway control. It activated one time; scared the s. It out of me. Made it to Ga.
While unhooking I noticed the nut that holds the friction bar to the hitch had fallen off. Put a new nut on, torqued and red. Trip home was much more relaxing. Luckily no damage.

Glad you figured the issue out and everyone was safe. Could have been a lot worse. I paranoid about stuff like this so before every trip I double check all connections before I leave. Takes about 5-10 minuets longer but it beats the alternative.

Are you sure you have proper WDH and trailer level? Verified on cat scale? When I used friction sway bar I forget to tighten it a number of times and didn't even notice it. If your setup is correct I would think it wouldn't have been that bad.

Please consider switching to a better hitch that doesn't require a friction bar.

Before we could afford a truck, we towed our 26 camper with our diesel 2007 Grand Cherokee. We used an equalizer hitch (the real one) and never had an issue with sway even though everyone said the wheel base for out TV was too short...worked just fine.
