CAI = Cold Air Intake

One thing that I would suggest with your size rig and seeing that you have a 4X4 re: maneuvering .....use 4X4 low for backing up 'any' slope. This will save (tranny) from over heating and give you nice slow control.
Note: I have disconnected the air tubes for switching on the fly to do this.
I just do the manual hub switch if and when I need true 4X4.
PS I even use 4X4 low for maneuvering into camp spots...it just creeps along at idle nice control. (front wheels disengaged)

So I checked with my friend what he would do to a 99 7.3 for towing. He agreed with tuner, exhaust, and intake, EGT gauge, plus...

Billet turbo wheel
Transmission cooler from a 6.0 PSD.

He says the stock downpipe is 3.5", but a 4" will fit.

A billet wheel has been proven time and time again to not add any performance. All it does is make the whistle louder.

Me personally, if it is an automatic, I would buy the most bulletproof transmission on the market. They aren't that tough stock, but everybody that has a built one says they are a dream.

Same exact design, the billet offers no gain vs cast. however the billet is stronger and less susceptible to fatigue.

Driving home today, saw dot had a f350 flat deck loaded up, pulling a bobcat, pulled over on the side of the road.

It does happen.

I'll be pulling my 2015 Work and Play 25CB with my 2010 Sierra 1500 for the next two years or so. During that time I will decide whether I need a 2500 or not.

Too many to count

I've been asked the question of "enough truck' or variations of it for several years. It depends on my mood what my answer might be.

Dot can pull anyone over, they are state troopers just like all the other ones except they can give you a log book ticket, all I'm saying is, the truck could be pulled over for a zillion things, these blanket statements by the weight police go just a tad too far for no reason

Down pipe and a good quality tuner are your best bet. Don't go cheap on the tuner as I have replaced many pcm's that were wiped out by a no name tuner. You will be amazed how much the down pipe will wake it up.
