Thank You, I have put a lot of work into her and still have a bunch more to do, but it is the one thing my dad left me, so I plan on making it work. SAFETY FIRST.

2011 HD 2500 rated to 17,500 for fifth wheel and same engine as the 1 ton. Not trying to get the weight police in an uproar...already know what they have to say and don't really care...

In the past, we have had it in the mountains, we now pretty much keep it in FL as a seasonal.

I'd like to see the payload sticker on that truck...

My buddy has a new 2500 and that trailer would be WAY overweight for his truck.

... and everyone knows the trailer ratings are pretty useless because you hit payload limits from the pin before you get to trailer weight limit.

32 ft Crusader 295RST tow with 1/2 ton GMC Sierra 6.2 L

My Sierra half ton with 6.2 L engine and trailer MAX package easily tows my 9,000 lb Crusader 5th wheel, even up the steepest hills. I installed a Reese sidewinder to take the fear of crashing the cab on tight turns as I have the short box on my Sierra.

A friend has the same trailer and tows it with a half ton Ford F150 equipped with Ecoboost 6cyl engine and trailer MAX package. He also finds that has sufficient power through the mountains.

2 examples of towing 5th wheels successfully with 1/2 ton trucks

About 300 pounds over on pin/payload...tows like a dream.

Trailer has 8,000 pound axles with upgraded brakes.

I was thinking the same thing....That is lot overweight for a 2500 even a 3500 SRW is marginal.

Perhaps for a Ford...the 2011 Silverado HD Duramax is fifth wheel rated to 17,500, the 2016's 18,000.

So was my F 250 capable of towing. But CCC is the 2500 is no where enough.

My 2016 Silverado 2500HD owners manual seems schizophrenic. Page 346 says 18,000lbs, but the table, starting on pg 337, lists a maximum of 14,500 lbs (5th wheel and bumper pull).

What does the payload sticker list on the door jamb? I'm curious if my friends is much different than yours.

You can keep drinking the Kool-Aid if you want, but the issues with the 6.0 were NOT simply hear say. They are well documented and widespread. Did ANY type of increase in power, particularly via a tuner almost GUARANTEE you'd have problems? Absolutely. But stock ones were NOT immune. My cousin, 30ish at the time, had one that was bone stock. She spent over $8K in a 1-2 year time frame trying to keep it on the road before bailing on it. And this is coming from someone that's NEVER bought a new truck that wasn't a Ford.

I would love to know what the door pillar says. The max I can get in a F250 2015 is 2800lbs with a XL or XLT trim package.

So, if I told you that a Ford Pinto was the safest car ever manufactured you couldn't refute that since you've never owned one? Wow. And, since when is a first hand account hear say? I guess I was just hallucinating the time she actually limped it into my driveway with a mechanical failure. There are MANY accounts of issues with the 6.0 from actual owners on this and MANY other forums.

Where is that head buried in sand emoticon again????

Well I did 3 times over. The 6.0 was actually a great motor if you studded the heads and "fixed" the EGR/oil cooler problem. I know plenty of people that blew head gaskets on stock motors and it was most assuredly due to the design problems. Two of our 3 farm trucks went through this before we did a preventative upgrade on the third. My cousin now drives that one, tuned, bigger turbo, injectors, etc. and he beats the hell out of it daily. Other than blowing up transmissions and rear ends the thing is a beast.

Oh, and the stock ones are notorious for dirty, sticky turbos also.
