I use a 2008 crew cab Duramax with the Allison. 13 mpg pulling 7500 lbs, and up to 21 mpg empty. 3.73 gears. Pulls great!

Tow a 2014 apex 235bhs with a 2005 Toyota Tacoma. Pleased with the way it tows it in the Appalachian mtns. The equalizer brand hitch makes it a dream to tow.

2013 GMC 2500HD long bed, 3:73 rear end, 6.0 gasser, factory tow package, 3526 lb. payload. 17" LT tires load range E. WDH with sway control. It's overkill for our 5500 lb. (loaded) trailer, but makes for a very pleasant towing experience.

Safe travels.

We tow our 2015 Palamino SolAire 20RBS with a 2014 Chevy Tahoe Z71 6-speed (4-speed in Tow/Haul) with the 3.42 gearing. We get 19-21 mpg with no trailer 9-11 mpg towing (depending on speed, grade, etc.). I don't push it faster than 65 and it runs at 60+ just fine. A little slow on steep hills and in stiff headwinds but it will run an 8% grade at about 2800-3000 rpm going 25 mph. Not a diesel but it tows smoothly and is very comfortable for us. The trailer is real nice, roomy and comfortable for the two of us and our two cats.

When did you get the twins and built trans? Your sig on DF doesn't show any of that.

Aren't you over your payload capacity with the pin weight of that Rockwood ultra-lite ? ("half-ton towable" ... yeah, but not with the axle/bed weight payload capacity)

I switched from an F150 to F250 because just the pin weight was over the payload capacity of the F150, yet alone driver + 3 passengers.
And if I remember tundra had similar payload capacity, though I was only looking at supercrew.
F-250 crew has almost double the payload limit of the F-150 crew (with my specs at least), so I feel a lot safer with that (even though fuel economy sucks)

The Duramax was not an LBZ in 09'. It's an LMM.
