What WDH are people using to tow Lacrosse 329BHT?

Brand new to this forum. Picking up 2015 Lacrosse 329BHT in a couple of weeks and wondering which WDH with sway control people are using and what size of bars you recommend. TIA

Many here, including myself, are using the Blue Ox Sway Pro and are very happy with it. I recommend using the bars that are 200-300lb huskier than your tongue weigh. For example, if your tongue weight is 700-800lbs, use the 1000lb bars. The 1500lb bars would give you a rougher ride.

E2 will definitely be a little inadequate for your trailer depending on your toe vehicle. My Surveyor is similar in size and weight, I use the Equal-I-zer 4 point. The 4 pt works great

I bought a new Equalizer 4 point with sway control last Sept. Bought the 5er in Dec so it sits in the garage. I could have used my neighbors SOB but no way even though both rated 1000/10,000

WDH

I have a 6 month old Blue Ox Swaypro with 1500 pound bars for sale if anyone is interested. I have used both 1000 pound and 1500 pound bars on this hitch pulling the same trailer. The 1500 pound bars do not ride rougher and transfer weight much better. Tongue weight 900 pounds.

New the hitch can be had from Amazon for $600.

I'll take $475 shipped, or $425 if picked up near Madison Wisconsin.

Let me add my 2 cents worth as I actually tow a Lacrosse 329 BHT! I use the Equalizer with the 14,000 lb bars. I'm very happy with it, it's easy to hook up and tows well. Most of the experts suggest you keep at least 10-12% of your loaded weight on the tongue. In other words, if your Lacrosse weighs in loaded at 10,000 lbs, the weight the hitch carries should be 1,000 to 1,200 lbs. The 329 is what I would call "tail heavy". It is hard to load it to keep the tongue weight at 10% plus. We keep the propane tanks full, have all our heavy cargo in the front storage area and then load most of our other loose stuff in the front bedroom to keep the weight distribution right (verified by a tongue weight scale we bought). I think we could fill the fresh water tank and gain more tongue weight, but then we would be over the max towing capacity of our tow vehicle. Keeping the tongue weight in the right range makes a bit difference when it comes to controlling sway.

When you pick up your 329, pay attention to the the bed in the rear bedroom. We've had to replace the cheap L brackets twice and the poor factory design means when the bed is unfolded and set up for sleeping, it's not level. Our dealer actually modified the center support structure to help with this problem. If you have any other 329 questions, just ask.

I don't suppose you would have a picture of the modification that the dealer made? I have heard a lot of negative things about the rear bed and this issue. I would like to pass along this info to my dealer. I am picking up the unit in 10 days. TIA

Used the Equalizer 4point system for more than 10 years. Have a 5th wheel now, but I really liked it. Make sure that whatever hitch you decide on is set up correctly for your rig.

How much heavier is a 329 BTH? I have a 33RKT and pulled it fine with a Reese WDH. The 33RKT empty almost has my 04 F250 maxed out in its towing capacity

Our 329 is at the dealer having the refrigerator fixed. When I get it back, I'll post a photo. The dealer said the factory wouldn't respond to their requests so they fixed the center support because they really like to take care of the customer. This makes the bed mostly (but not fully) level. The end portion still slopes due to the height difference between the slide room and the floor. On the 2014 model 329 this room had carpet so it wasn't as noticeable. Ours is a 2015 with no carpet. Before the dealer fix, we carried boards to put under the center and end supports to level the bed. That is just nuts. The factory design of the bed leaves a lot to be desired.

One thing we did soon after we bought our Lacrosse was to put new Maxxi trailer tires (load range E) on it. It comes from the factory with cheap load range D tires. Since the last thing I want is to blow a tire with a heavy trailer, we bit the bullet and spent the extra $$ on new tires to replace new tires. We sold the factory tires on craigslist to recoup some of our expenses. Peace of mind is priceless.

This is a photo of the modification our dealer made to the supports underneath the rear fold out bed. You can see the extra piece they added by the difference in the black paint color. To make the bed perfectly level, you would have to add this amount to the foot board also, but that would be hard to do and have it fold up properly. Hope this helps.
