What WDH/Sway Control would you recommend

I have a 2015 Dodge 2500 Diesel. I have the Lacrosse 329BHT.

Tongue Weight - 918lbs
Ship Weight - 8777lbs
Fully loaded weight - right around 10000lbs

I have a WDH and Sway control but wanted to just through out the question to the forum before getting into a namebrand debate.

What WDH and Sway Control would you recommend for this setup and why?

The main reason I ask is when I brought it home yesterday, I was getting more sway that I thought I should. I can try tightening down the sway control more, but wanted to just get raw input from the group before throwing out there what I have. Thanks for any and all help.

Suggestion here would be to get a WDH with integrated sway control, like Equal-i-zer 4pt, Reese Straight Line Dual Cam, or Blue Ox Sway Pro.......unless you got the big bucks for a Hensley or ProPride. 1200 or 1400 lb. spring bars will probably be needed.

First your sway control...if it's the friction type , you need 2 , and don't be afraid to tight the handle all you can !
It will make noise, but won't sway !
Then the WDH, I would go with 1200 pounds bars and 12000 pounds head

The andersen should be a perfect match for your set up no sway no bounce wd simple grease less set up . very stout unit . join in the 21century

If you have the friction style sway control then 2 are needed on that size unit. I went with the second friction bar and had no sway afterwards. My thoughts were spend 50 dollars on second sway bar or 700+dollars on new WDH with build in sway control.

I would have to second the Andersen WDH system. It's quiet, you don't disconnect to backup. Last year was the first year using it never a sway with 29'. Hoping to have the same response with our new 35' 8329SS we are picking up this weekend. Hated the spring bars.

dang it, every time I look at this forum it cost me.... I need a second Husky Sway Control now. Even looked at Husky's web site and you guys are correct, Husky recommend using both right-hand and left-hand sway controls for trailers 24′ and longer. (i'm way over that length)

I have a Lacrosse 327RES which appears to be about the same size as your rif and I tow with 2012 Ford E-350 Crew cab. I uses a Equlaizer 4 point (Weight Distributing w/ Sway Control) and have towed over 6,000 miles with no issues. I liek the set up.
This truck has integrated sway control

Prior to that I towed this rig with an E350 van and i also had no sway with this hitch

X2 Andersen. Used one with my 2012 Kodiak TT pulled by my 2010 MB GL450. Did 12000 tow miles in 3 years. No sway, no chuck, easy on, easy off.. Highly recommended.

These are your best bets. I had the reese dual cam which works well once properly set up but can be a bear to get to properly set up. What are running currently? The issue may he you need to correct your loading to give yourself more tongue weight (ideal is 13-15% of loaded tt weight) and then dial your hitch in better. Honestly,I have always found I get my best hitch adjustments using scales instead of measurements. You will need to do 3 passes at minimum. 1st pass is truck only not tt (front axle on scale pad 1, rear axle on scale pad 2). 2nd pass is truck with tt no wdh (truck same as first pass, both tt axles on scale pad 3). You can calculate tongue weight and total tt weight with these two tickets. 3rd pass is truck with tt and wdh (same positioning as in weigh #2). Goal is to return the front axle to as close to unloaded weight as possible without going heavier. If you go to a catscale, first weigh is typically $9-12 and each additional weigh in a 24 hrs period will be $1-3.

I placing my vote for the Blue Ox! I am using it currently with a Silverado 1500 & a 30' TT. My TT weights seem similar to yours. I do not have issues with sway. THe Blue Ox is designed to prevent the sway before it starts.

Set up seems very easy. The dealer installed mine but I watched the videos for it. There is no head angle to adjust. The bars are easy to put on and take off. It's quiet and I do not need to disassemble prior to backing.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations and help. I looked at the Anderson Hitch and it looks really interesting. I think I may go that direction. Just need to take some measurements. Lowest price I found was Amazon and free shipping. I guess I will try and sell my current setup on Craig's list.

If you do go with the Anderson, please report back and let us know how it worked out.

I used to have the Reese, now have the Andersen. The Andersen tows just as well as a fifth wheel I used to own. The Andersen does everything they say it does. I pull a 34'-6" toyhauler with a 1200lb rzr in the back of it and there is no problem.

First, your tongue is too light so poor tow quality should be expected. Readjust your loading to get the tongue weight up.

All good choices, and my personal preference is an Equal-i-zer.

Thats the factory weight . Add 2 full propane tanks, battery and just a little gear can change that ratio. My tongue was 200 plus lbs heavier then factory spec when I scaled it brand new.
So that may or may not be a issue.

A trip to the cat-scales is never a bad idea imo
