Again, as OC & others (myself included
) have mentioned even with a 6'6 box you want to get a Reese because if you jackknife you WILL dent your cab - I have seen it happen.
Pin Weight. We DID go to the Weight Police last year at Goshen. Here is our result:
Truck: Axels F+R 5,985 GVW 6,650
Truck+Trailer: Axels F+R 7,825 GVW 8,375
Pin weight : 1,725 (18% well under the 19-25%)
We had a front-rear weight distribution deficit of 300 lbs that has been fixed by raising the Kingpin hitch one level. (Could have probably fixed it by filling the FWT as well).
We weighed out on Saturday morning at the end of the rally and we were loaded to the gills (both in payload and cargo) - brought a BUNCH of stuff (Probably 3-500lbs) that we were dropping off in MI after the rally. Add to that all the "loot" we had bought in Goshen
We have since upgraded to Class D Goodyear Marathon tires and a lift kit. Just to be safe.
