Equalizer 1200/12,000 Model. I absolutely love it. Never any sway, easy to hook up, and I can back in the trailer still hooked no problem.

Asking what the best hitch is subjective. I tow with a Hensley and wouldn't tow with anything else. I've used friction hitches and IMO there is no comparison. To each his own.

Late spring and early fall are our times. We stay home when the working folks with school kids are out, filling up the campgrounds.

We're fortunate to live in an area where people come for vacations (the San Juan Islands of Washington State), so we can stay home and let the crowds flow around us and still enjoy the area. We live on the only island in the San Juan chain that you can reach without taking a ferry.

We're across the street from waterfront saltwater marina homes (which were about $500K more than ours!) and have access to all the parks and other areas around town, plus the very interesting downtown area and other local landmarks.

We usually travel in late May/Early June and then stay home until after Labor Day and travel until late October, if the weather cooperates.

Go with the Equalizer System. I used a Reese with my prior TT. Just got our new Rockwood a few months ago and started fresh with a new hitch as well. It takes a few more minutes to hook up/unhook, but the pros outweigh the cons all day long!

Equalizer

I did buy the equalizer. Assembly and hook up was fairly easy. Any tips or tricks to make sure I have the weight distributed correctly. I did pull my trailer with it for about 30 miles across a very high bridge and could not tell I was pulling anything.

Just to give options, I run with a Reese Straight-Line Dual cam with the 800lbs bars. It came with the used 2010 trailer I bought so I can't compare it to anything else. However, it tows perfectly and is a breeze to hook up. I really like it.

I guess I should have read this before ordering my Curt 1000/10000 WDH. Sounds like the Equalizer system is the way to go?

I haven't gone more than a few miles with it so far, and it feels just fine, so I'm hoping it's not a big deal.

With your truck and trailer combo, you should be fine. Get a 28-30 footer and you'll be looking for a new hitch setup.

There wasn't much sag before adding the WDH, so I knew it wouldn't take much. I did notice that the electric brakes work better (no hopping), I did have to adjust my mirrors thou

Reese does not sell or make the Equal-i-zer WDH. that is a brand name of a WDH with integrated sway control, made by Progress Mfg. Inc. in Utah.

too many use the term "equalizer" to describe other WDH systems, when the name "Equal-i-zer" is a registered trademark name for Progress Mfg. Inc's hitches, which are very different from Reese hitches.

The website lists Equal-i-zer hitches along with other brands for sale. It also has a disclaimer aying it is not owned or operated by Cequent Mfg.

After looking at the site the price I paid for a 600/6000 lbs Equal-i-zer was about $50 less shipping included than this website.
