who has switched from a 1/2 ton TV to a 3/4 or larger TT and why?

Just bought a 05 F250 4x4 CC lariat V10, to replace my 04 1/2t suburban with the 5.3. Should pull my 7000lb tt much nicer! always been a GM guy, but found a great deal on this truck. Bet a 5er is in our future now too....

It may even be due to "P" rated tire on your avalanche instead of LT tires. I have the stock P rated tires on the truck. Good news - I need new tires this next month. So thank you for the suggestion on replacing with LT tires.

I'm glad to hear that almost no one regrets upgrading their TV. I just had to replace the wife's vehicle this month, so it'll be awhile before it's my turn again. Thanks for all the suggestions and input!

Just picked up my replacement TV for my 1/2 ton Dodge Ram it's another Ram. 09 2500 sport with the Hemi. For me the gas vs diesel debate raged on in my mind for a long time but choosing another gas motor was right for me. I think this truck will pull my TT alot more comfortably on the highway as well as safely. Another 1K pounds added to the payload over the 1/2 ton is a quantum leap.

LT tires made a huge difference in the handling! No more squishy, floaty feeling and I feel safer as well.

P series tires are usually designed for passenger cars, hence the "P". LT is for light truck. p tires will ride smoother, but lt's will take the weight.

I pull my 40 ft. 5 slide fifth wheel with an 05 f250 4x4, may add airbags next year but the diesel pulls it with no problems, I average 60-70 mph and get 10-14 mpg depending on the area.

Just a suggestion...when you have the LTs mounted, make sure they use new valve stems that can handle the load. My P-metric valve stems couldn't handle the 80 psi that my new LT's are rated at.

I hear you! didn't think of that in time and it pisses me off!
pisses me off because I should not have to think or worry about about this stuff. new tires, the garage should suggest the different options. Never mind, they didn't even know how much psi I should put in for for towing! they told me just what's on the door.

i dont run mine at the 80psi they say to. that is the MAX pressure. i run mine at 70, towing and empty and seem to be getting good treadwear, but they are only 3000 miles old.

16 " michelin mtx lt tires. best 900 bucks spent ever.
