What year is is? Diesel or gas? Is that hand calculated? You should never get rid of that truck if you're getting that good of MPG while towing.

With those kind of numbers while towing there is no need to ask if it's a gas or diesel.

terrain will have a lot to do with it. if i stay in illinois, i have basically flat terrain. i go west to missouri, i start running into hills. pretty amazing the difference in terrain 1 river crossing can make.

I think it does matter since I'm skeptical of either fuels getting that MPG while towing. Maybe it's powered by fusion

you guys are funny...there is always a guy or two in our group who makes claims of 20+ mpg while towing...

generally i just smile and say "man....you got a freak of a rig"....

i always find it curious that they are needing to refill thier diesel the same time i am needing to in my 11mpg rig....same trip, same roads.....

its hard to boast numbers when i pull up behind them and can see EXACTLY how much diesel they put in, and i know EXACTLY how many miles we have gone!....most avoid the topic in the future, and some make claims of getting a bunch of "bad" diesel on the trip...LOL

either way, in 10yrs i have yet to have the honor of seeing the elusive 20+mpg 15k hauler.....the mystical creature it is....heck, mine just gets 21mpg EMPTY on a good day....LOL...

There isn't any doubt a better TV will be a better experience. The difficult question is how much money are you going to sink into it?.

I tow with a 1999 F150 with the 250 HP 5.4L V8. It does operate closer to it's limits than my Mazdaspeed 6. My Mazdaspeed3 goes up a pass in 6th gear without breaking a sweat. The truck will downshift groan, but you do have to realize automobiles are constructed to be safely and reliably operated at their peak performance. With the US speed limits, you just usually don't. The F150 was 1/10th the cost of a new truck. I guess eventually we'll upgrade, but I have to say it's more a luxury than a necessity.

But he forgot to mention he was getting 67 GPM (gallons / mile) on his DEF!

Us 6.4L owners have to stick together! We use 25% more fuel, but 100% less DEF!

Mine hits 99mpg then crashes down to 13.1mpg... Then real world hand calculating kicks it down to 12.5mpg, that's with the continental divide, Rogers Pass and a million other hills in between and def still intact... No crying here

Ours is a 13 lb rat terrier guard dog. I tell everyone that if someone breaks into our house, she will be barking at the intruder from under the couch so she can protect herself!

To bring this thread back around to where it started, the pup's so small, we didn't have to upgrade trucks to take her camping with us!

Sorry to hear about the loss of your dear friend. I never thought I could get as attached to "just an animal" as I am to ours. She is our "first born" and is a part of the family!
