I love my Equalizer and am no longer self-conscious about creaking and moaning, which is only an issue leaving the house and in the campground. Since I decided it was normal, I actually don't notice it any more.

Love the hitch and the company. Had an issue with the bracket being bent and they immediately sent new style brackets and included the new L clamps. Contact Progressive and discuss your issue. Very friendly. They do have the bracket mounts to help quiet the hitch.

I use it and am very satisfied despite the squeaking. I wouldn't leave home without it.

I've had one for two years and love it. I always back up with mine attached and never any issues.

Equal-I-Zer

I've had one on my rig for the last 2 years and it is the best at doing the job of minimizing the sway, and levels the truck (WD).
I have found that a lil grease on the "L" pins and on the pads I added to the L brackets really helped the noise.
We don't squeek but we will pop from time to time when making the turns. I usually laugh because anyone around hits the dirt!

We love our Equalizer set up and last season I put on the bracket jackets. Knocks the noise done a lot. I bought the new design L pin with the built in locking overloop but they will not work with the bracket jackets. Might have to do some trimming but not sure I want to mess with them. May just carry them as a spare in case of emeregency.

i don't know who told you that but that didn't come from the Equal-i-zer's manufacturer, Progress Manufacturering Inc.
that was one of the big reasons we bought it, not having to unhook anything to back up.
and after over 7 years of owning it, still have never needed to unhook anything.

who told you that the Equal-i-zer had to have something taken off, to back up?

Im not sure why anyone would want to grease the equalizer's bars and brackets so they don't squeak. That noise is those bars doing there job and greasing them is making them not have friction. Am I wrong on this?

Also there is no need to disconnect to back up. Equalizer can be hitched from any angle so i'm sure backing in will not be an issue. I've never taken my bars off to back in. What a PIA that would be (especially if someone was trying to get past)

If you read the manual you are supposed to lube the hitch head sockets. That is where most of the sway control comes from. I loosen, clean and apply grease liberally to the top and bottom of the sockets, then torque each to 60 ft lbs before each trip. I feel it is best to follow what the manufacturer says. I have never had any need to lube the L brackets. I have 9000 miles on my hitch with very little noise, most of the time nothing at all.

X 2... That's the first time I've ever heard of this as well... Not unhooking before you back up is one of Equalizers selling points.

I have extra heavy duty grease I put on about every third trip. Still creaks a little but that just tells me everything is working.
