Will Bilstien HD shocks outperform OEM

I'm considering upgrading the shocks on my 2011 Silverado 1500. Will Belstien shocks make a significate difference over OEM shocks? Will I just be throwing money away?

Do you have the Z85 Heavy duty trailering suspension or the Z71 "off road" suspension?

Installed mine today. When I took them out of the box I wondered why they had a strap around them holding them together. When I took the OEM shocks off they were the same length expanded as the Bilstiens where strapped up. Took a test drive and they are better than the OEM unloaded. I pick my RV up this weekend from the dealer, having a few things fixed, and I will see how it does on the trip home. I know all the trouble spots.

So Fishooker how did it go? I though I would have a report on towing, but when I went to pick up the RV, the dealer had screwed up one of the repairs and made it worse, so I had to leave it. I'm not going to get it back for 3 weeks.

So, this weekend I went to pick my rig up from the dealer after some warranty work and the pull home was great. My dealer is Danndy's in Anniston, Al. Just as a test I pulled route 281 to Cheaha State Park just south of Annistion. The route up there is 14 mile of hard pulling. The shocks were great. Then I went to some of my known problem areas, on my way back to my home is Wetumpka, Al, and I hardly knew the 5th wheel was back there. I can highly recommed the Bilstien HD shocks over the OEM shocks. If you want to test your rig for pulling, and you live in Alabama, try pulling Route 281 from I20 to Cheaha. It is a good test.

A happy RV'er

Patrick
