Wiring Brake Controller into 2011 GM Pickup
Have any of you wired a Tekonsha brake controller in a late model Sierra or Silverado (GMT900 version)? These trucks don't have a plug & play install for aftermarket brake controllers. There is a pigtail harness that has no connector terminal. I haven't gotten the truck yet, so I don't know what the colour codes are.
When I bought my P3 there was a short pigtail for soldering into the factory harness. It has a tag explaining the Ford & Toyota connections, but nothing for a GM vehicle. The 4 wires are black, white, red & blue. I've emailed Tekonsha, but haven't received a reply.

Try to find a Chevy/GMC truck forum, someone there may direct you to the codes you need.

I'm on gm-trucks.com, but I'm hesitate to ask there as I'm not entirely confident w/ some of the answers for questions posted.

Hi:
You may have a pigtail that plugs into the port under the dash. It should have been included with your truck. If you lost it, you can order one from the same supplier that you bought the controller from. It is the same as the GM origanal. It just plugs right into the receptacle under the dash and the back of the controller - No soldering or running power lines or anything if you are already "Tow Ready". This can be verified by looking at your bumper and finding a 7 pin RV/trailer receptacle. If it's there, you are prewired for the brake controller.

Unfortunately GM no longer provides a connection to plug a brake controller into. As per their brochures:
Quote:
includes a 7-wire harness with independently fused trailering circuits mated to a 7-way sealed connector and 4 blunt-cut wires in the instrument panel for an aftermarket trailer brake controller

I just fired off an email enquiry to GM's Customer Assistance Dep't. I'll post when I hear back from them.

eTrailer also has a set of instructions with pics. When we bought our rig I got the Prodigy controller and took a printout of those instructions (with photos) to the tech at the dealer, because he didn't know how to install it on my truck. He had no problem after he read through it.

I finally got around to installing the controller today. No issues to speak of. The only "glitch" (insignificant) was that for whatever reason, the wire under the master cylinder & the 40 amp fuse had been connected/installed @ the factory.

My HD(in sig) had an Integrated Trailer Brake Controller onboard that was hooked up from factory. Did you order your truck without the ITBC?

Yes. There are 4 blunt cut wires under the dash for aftermarket controllers.
