We have the regular. Purposefully bought it in August after giving up my suburban for more of a towing capacity.

You probably don't want to know this but the LWB would have been a better choice for towing...

I'm.with the others.. I think you need to adjust the hitch a bit. Mayya different hitch as well.. which one exactly do you have?

Due to our HOA we can’t have a boat, RV or anything like that in front of our house for more than 24 hours. We had to take it to a friends to store. I know it was a Blue Ox. I don’t know if there are many variations of it though. We added the 1,200 for the cost of it into our note. Kinda thought a hitch was a hitch and that the dealership would know which one was the best. Hmm.

Tow/haul isn't going to make any difference with sway.

A 33 1/2 ft TT being pulled by a SUV that's close to max payload, on P-rated tires and a poorly setup WDH, is the scenario I see.
I have a F150 Ecoboost and I would never tow a TT that long, let alone with a shorter wheelbase SUV.

rouk, one problem is that you're quoting fictional dry weights and generic owners manual numbers.

Look at the trailer's yellow factory sticker weight and post that.
Also take your combo to a CAT scale and get some real world numbers.

Not to nitpick or belabor the issue, but tow/haul should be engaged prior to hitching the trailer instead of after in order to accommodate autoride. This may be different with newer models.

Do you have an antisway bar on your WDH to control sway?

This is what I see as well.

A couple years ago at the auto show I asked when the 3/4 ton suburban/Yukon would be back and I was told the current versions are 3/4 ton capable. Although I could see the 6.2 handling the load, I was skeptical about the suspension, payload, transmission and brakes. It looks like typical marketing hype from GM if the current Yukon is struggling with a tow set up typical for a 3/4 ton.

Were your tires aired up for towing or comfort. Air tire to max pressure, for sure on the rear. Does the tv have P rated or LT tires

I use the Sherline Trailer Tongue Weight scale from etrailer.com to get an idea of my tongue weight. I'm glad I bought it. It would save you a lengthy trip to the CAT scales.

You have 116" wheelbase truck pulling a 33' trailer. You have the WRONG tow vehicle if you are worried about sway. Even a 1/2T truck may have problems with that.

I a tow a 2609 Rockwood with our 2016 Yukon Denali. I highly recommend making sure your weight distribution hitch is properly setup. I use a Reese Strait-line dual cam WDH and it took a lot of trial and error to get setup. Make sure to read your owners manual as it does discuss setup of the WDH hitch. There are many articles in this forum that I'd recommend consulting to get your setup right with the auto-level. Also, I did eventually upgrade to LT tires. They definitely made an improvement, but not as much as the proper setup of the WDH.

No, it's way bigger and gold. Let me see if I can find it. The dealer said it was a $1,200 hitch.

It's this one. Looks like we may have been overcharged a tad.

I'm not sure, probably the wrong ones. My husband always has to have upgraded tires. Here is a picture of the TV and TT. TT doesn't look that big compared to the one behind it.

Hubby has started looking at 3/4 ton trucks. This will be a miserable month long drive for us, since we are taking my 2 boys (7&9), my grandson, my dad, and our Jack Russell in 2 rows of seats compared to my Denali...but I guess we have a better chance of getting everywhere in one piece.

It looks better than your average run of the mill WD hitch.

I bet you it's not setup correctly. There looks like there are several setup videos out there. I'd try adjusting it myself. Otherwise, take it back to the dealership and have them get someone else to configure it.

Make sure they adjust it with the air ride system disabled. It's the only way to ensure the weight is being properly transferred to the front axle. Set up correctly, the air shocks should only raise the rear a half inch or so after it's fully hooked up.

Using the tow/haul mode will assist with the hills (both going up and down) but has absolutely zero to do with sway control.

Good idea.

FWIW.. we have 4 kids (ages 19-6) and went from Georgia to the Grand Canyon last spring in my '07 F350 Crew Cab LWB Dually. You'd be surprised how roomy they are.

When you weigh at a CAT scale, be prepared for a rude awakening. It happened to me. You may be looking for a new tow vehicle the next day. Sorry to rain on your parade, but it can be shocking to discover that you've been lied to on both ends (trailer and tow vehicle sales people).

6 people and a dog? That has got to be more than the 400 lbs you quoted earlier. That will eat up a bunch of you passenger/cargo weight, not leaving a lot of room for tounge weight.
