Common issue - I think it has happened to all of us at one time or the other
Slight amendment to the procedure previously posted (and one that works for us all the time):
- Start your engine and let the air pressure build until you hear the dryer valve release (it will make a 'popping' sound & a 'whoosh' of air)
- Turn engine off, retract your levelers, pull in your slides.
- Start Engine & do your final prep (disconnect from Shore Power, walk around & so forth)
- As you do the walk around, you will see your air bag inflating (the body will rise up above the tires)
- Once the bags have fully inflated (3-5 min max) and your sweeper is several inches above the ground you are ready to roll!
Interesting observation (and, I think, how this gets everyone): If you overnight at a campground - even with the slides out and autolevelers extended, you
usually do not have to do the above procedure; just dump the autolevelers, pull in the slides and go.
When I asked about this, I was told at a FL Oasis center that air pressure is still maintained in the tanks after the bags are dumped and is slowly released over a period of time. So, if you are only at a camp overnight, you may well have enough air pressure to inflate the airbags.
Still, even after a overnight we
always use the departure procedure outlined above.
Happy Travels!
