Cruise control stopped working
Hey all, just pulled out to head to NYC for the weekend and my cruise control on our 2015 Charleston just stopped working. Anyone else ever have an issue like this?

So just stopped working today, or since last time out or last year?
Checking the fuse block (wherever yours may be) is always the first place to look.

Just stopped working today. Been traveling since the end of February. Been parked for a couple weeks in Syracuse.

Could be a dirty contact in the cruise control switches....but the easiest is still to check the fuse block.

So now none of the buttons on the steering wheel are working, including the horn. Ideas?

Most likely the clock spring in the steering column. A rolled up set of wires that connects all the buttons to the car. If it jams it can break the delicate wires.

Not sure how the new stuff works but the cruse control systems 2-3 years ago use vacuum assist from the engine to operate. If it was sitting for several weeks you may have had some unwanted guest that were chewing on it.

Gorlof
So what's the total count now with the steering wheel controls?
Horn doesn't work
Cruise doesn't work
Any other controls/buttons?
This sounds like a common ground lead/wire now broken. I would hazard. To say a horn and cruise are on separate fuses.

Have you given Freightliner a call? They've always been real helpful to me!

No cruise, no horn, no wipers. Essentially nothing on the "smart" wheel works except steering

Steering column wiring harness failure or body computer failure. I would get it into a good shop that has competent employees to work on computers or wiring.
Let Us Know What They Find Tim

I had exactly the same issue. The steering wheel needed to be replaced.

Happened to me a couple years back. Opened 12 volt circuit in cockpit and re closed, that did the trick. It was a Winnebago product but all Freightliner's are the same sensitive electronics.
