Georgetown to Charleston

Hello fellow FRF members. Looks like we are making the move from gas to diesel since we have been unhappy with the performance the V10 in the Georgetown provided. We pull our GMC Terrain behind the motorhome and it became apparent with difficult up and down hills as well as a rough ride on some roads that the Georgetown was barely getting the job done. So, in a couple weeks we will be Charleston owners, a used 2006 400ts.

My question to the forum members who own diesels (Charleston and Berkshire) is are you happy with the diesel platform and do you have any advice you would pass on to a diesel "greenie"? I expect to see a noticeable improvement in performance and ride. Am I going to be happy I made the move to diesel?

Berkshire owner that moved up from a class c. Air brakes, air suspension and diesel power....there's no going back once you experienced it...

Congrats on the new MH. Can you give some info on the Charleston. I know that the used to be a single rear Axel. Do you have a tag and what engine do you have?

Phil57 The 06 Charleston has the 330 Cat sitting on a Freightliner raised chassis with single rear axle. Seen ratings from over 800 to 1000 ft. lbs. of torque...argh, argh, argh!! The v10 gas only has a little over 400 ft. lbs. Mind you, have not picked up yet but looking forward to the new and improved ride. You guys with the Berkshires, looks like you have very nice rigs.

Have driven a Georgetown and a Berkshire, and we have a Berkshire. not even in the same ballpark. You will bw a happy camper with the Charleston I'm sure

After some breaking in, we love our charleston. You will too!
