No hot water

Trying to get ready for the season but not getting any hot water. Propane is on (have 1/4 tank). Switch on Gerard unit is on. When I run hot faucet, light on unit comes on, blower blows but nothing gets hot. There's no pilot to light is there? I don't smell any propane. What am I missing?

Some time i have the same problem. Read the attached document. You have to reset the limit switch if you have GIRARD TANKLESS WATER HEATER. Hope that will help you.

Thanks lacecl2014. I feel really stupid, but how do I find these "switches" and how do I reset them? The picture on the doc just confuses me. Maybe I have a different model.

I can hear the igniter going on and off, but nothing ever gets hot at all. Is there a way to test if propane is actually getting to the unit?

Hi chabbey
I have the same model but the set up look different. I put a picture of my GSWH-1 limit switch. My motorhome is a 2015. We are talking about a switch but it is not really a switch that you have to reset. Just press on the white buttom as you could see on the attached picture.

Our's had a problem when it was new that you might check for. If you pushed the reset button, you hot hot water until you turned off the faucet. The next time you turned on the water....no hot water. Turned out to be a flow sensor that was bad. When I shut off the water, it would kick the reset. Took a part they ordered and about twenty minutes for them to fix.

Ok, I guess I'm going to have to take it in to get serviced. There are no white switches on my unit, only black; and none of them have a button on them. Ugh, there goes more $$....

So I found the problem. Dealer had replaced my defective CO2/LP detector last fall with the wrong one. Because it only had two wires, it automatically shut off the propane. Nothing was wrong with the hot water heater...it was just a symptom!

Thanks guys for the other troubleshooting though...I still learn something every time!
