effingham to st louis is approx 90 miles. carlyle lake to st louis approx 50 miles. dam west (carlyle) has full hook up and some lake front sites, hazlett state park (also carlyle) has about 300 sites, but only electric. some are also lake front.

Their is a Mobile Home/RV park called Marquette RV in St Charles. Right off hwy 94 and I-70. Good location, reasonable. Not many places to stay around STL.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We have only stayed here overnight, and the St. Louis RV mentioned before was good for us...close to the Arch and Riverfront for the little time we had for sightseeing. It is all paved and small spaces, but we only stayed overnight, so it worked for us. People there were very nice. I think it might be nice for us to try some of these other suggestions.

I second or third lakeside 370 Especially if you are just looking for a spot to stay and do things in Town. Close to Lakeside is a place called New Town and worth checking out. A new urbanism thing. In the summer they play movies on friday nights and have concerts and festivals. I am partial cause its where I live. Attached Some pics of that as well. 370 is a new, Clean and Safe facility with full hookups. 30 minutes from most any attraction in STL. They seem to add new stuff all the time.
If you are a local looking for some cool spots....highly reccomend Cuiver River State park in Troy, Meramac in pacific, Babler in Wildwood. Most all of these have been mentioned earlier inthe thread but worth making note of.

Pin Oak Creek at Union (I-44 and US 50), about 15 miles west of Six Flags and about 45 miles west of downtown STL, isn't bad. Here's a link.

Welcome to Pin Oak Creek RV Park

Stayed at this park the Monday before Thanksgiving this year. We were traveling and I had business in the area.

It was not my idea of a great campground as it was basically a large lot set up with parking stripes. We generally stay in state parks etc. However we really appreciated it. They were not busy. We got there very late that night, they had left a map taped to the door with our slot marked and how to get to it. The campground was pretty quiet. The kids loved the miniature golf course. They ended up having most of the day to hang out there as I was working. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had run a propane bottle dry, they filled it at the campsite for the same price it cost to have it filled at a service station.

If we are in the area again we will go back.
