Auburn AL has both a private and a state park. Both just off of 85. Auburn is 100 mile out of Atlanta and 40 miles from Montgomery. Great town, lots of food and shopping. Auburn is the most upscale environment outside of some of the Bham and ATL areas.

Not much below Greenville AL. Last place to eat is in Greenville (craker barrel) or the casino at Atmore.

I make the run from Carrollton GA to Mobile AL about once every six weeks.

Fuel is cheaper in AL then GA.

You may want to think about Stone mountain Georgia . You are approximately 7 to 7 1/2 hours away in Wilmington. The traffic on the east side of Atlanta is bad early in the morning till about nine/ 10 o'clock, really bad around four o'clock so plan your arrival time accordingly if you can. I hope this will help some.

I20 & I85 "right around" Atlanta, pretty "ROUGH" -industrial, no nice campgrounds.

Hard Labor State Park is not too far off I-20 heading into Atlanta, will still be 1hr'ish outside of Atlanta (GA State Parks are generally nice for campgrounds).

Stone Mtn Park in Atlanta is nice, a little jaunt off your highways, a little higher $$costs, with this campground.

South of town, via I-85 -I'm only had experience with going all the way into AL - Auburn, has a great park right off highway - Chewalaca (Spelling??).

How far out of the way is Jim Miller park in Marietta, GA?

I read on RV Park Reviews that this is a decent overnight stop. We were going to stop there last year when my wife wanted to go to some bra shop she saw on TV.

Ependydad; JIm Miller Park in Marietta is on the north west side of Atlanta. It just really depends on where you're coming from.

Before you leave be sure to go online they have three or four routes to get there. Do not let your GPS take you through the city of Stone Mountain are some 10 foot clearance . Be safe and have fun!
