If you need a quick overnight on 39 there’s a truckstop at Wenona that has 6 or 7 full hookup pull through RV sites. Other than the fuel island there’s no truck parking. Figure that one.

We just came down from Minneapolis heading to Elkhart, In.and it was a mess. Construction everywhere so if you can avoid the area I would. My wife and I said we would drive 150 miles out of our way to avoid that Chicago area. Now this was during the week not the weekend it may be better then but I dought it. Chicago is one of the worst. I've traveled there for years on business and would arrive very late at night and if leaving I would either leave for home at 10:00 PM OR 3:00 AM and I lived just west of Saint Louis, MO. That's just my opinion other my fell differently.

Lived in Chicago all my life. If you want to travel through Chicago or use the I-294 bypass, do it after 9PM and before 6AM . Or I-74 to I-39 whenever. Good luck.

If you take that route around the Windy, you might want to consider an i-Pass or equivalent multi state. Did a round trip last year and I think it cost $32 with the i-Pass from N. Il to Mich City, In.

I have no plans to every make that trip again,,
It's like Ill & IN do not want RVers to go to there states and spend money in there parks, at there stores or at there gas stations,,, we have no money left after being raped at the toll booths !!!
We have not added it up yet,,, to much work to do after a 12 day trip,,,
but I think we paid over $20 to drive our little Sunseeker on that route !!!
And to top it off some of the road in IN SUCKED !!!
I will there was a way to make those people pay to drive on Michigan HWYs !

Try driving out east on the tollways roads in the eastern states, even more expensive than IN and IL. I paid $116 dollars in 2014 when we where out east in NY, ME,VT, MA. This is just part of my traveling cost when we travel. It is another form of taxation.
