Oak Creek RV park is a great place. We stay there a couple times a year just as over nights when traveling.

We loved the CG's inside the park.... Very quiet and restful... Be sure to do some SLOW nighttime drives... Most animals come out then and it's a blast.... Just drive slowly so you don't run over any of them... Also visit the Pacos river bridge and Judge Roy Bean's place....

We went to Carlsbad, Guadalupe Mountains and Big Bend this past Thanksgiving period. Stayed at Brantley Lake SP about 15 miles past the city of Carlsbad. Very nice SP, hookups, nice desert trails. The caverns are fantastic. At Guadalupe Mountains we stayed in the NP camp - basically a parking lot, no hookups - but very convenient to nice hiking trails. Stayed at Rio Grande and Chisos Basin in Big Bend. No hookups. Beautiful views in Big Bend - loved the canyons. No problem getting to Chisos with the Solera (it is 24 foot and we don't pull a toad). You might consider camping at the commercial campground at Rio Grande and using your toad to explore the park. There is one road along the river, and several other roads in the park, which are only 4WD high clearance vehicle accessible, I believe (if your towing a Jeep these might be fun!). When we visited the weather was quite pleasant - no need for aircon, so having no hookups was fine. I think the park campgrounds are prettier that the concession operated one, but hookups in hot weather would be pretty desireable.

You might try staying in Marathon. Small town outside Big Bend. Here is a link to the Marathon Motel and Campground. Large camping area with full hookups.

Drive around the town - some interesting hand made houses.
