No garage, my handle probly not accurate. We have a gray wolf TT and have called our kids the wolfpack in the past, so hence five of us plus the dog made wolfpack6. We will be bringing peddle bikes too.

I looked at the trail,it looks very nice, covered bridges, tunnels, restaurants, says it is mostly crushed limestone,so mtn bikes ar suggested. (DW will be sad, because she should not use her "skinny tire" bike) looks like fun !

Getting excited to go but praying that gas prices keep dropping in the coming weeks. Not camping this weekend due to work but hope to wrap up some camper mods.

We typically stay within a couple hours from home. This will be our longest trip so far so a little worried about the long haul. Any special prep I should be doing ahead of time? Or equipment to take along?

Did they ever finish Crazy Horse Mountain? We were out there in the mid 90's; I think they were having trouble raising money for the project and it had not been making much progress.

We're headed to SD in September to visit good friends in Spearfish and are already planning sightseeing itineraries.

Crazy horse is not completed, not even close. They work on it daily and raise money to work on it at a steady pace but still a long way to go.

I usually stop by about every 5 years to see the progress. I am not sure how much truth there is to it but I was told by a local that it will never be completed as then there would be no reason to continue receiving donations and no reason to keep going back to see the progress being made.

Here are a couple of pics of Crazy Horse that I took in 2009. It probably doesn't look much different today. Construction has been s-l-o-w.

iawolfpack,I'm in the same boat,we have done 5-800 mi. which is relatively little compared to what I estimate to be 3000+, this time. Only things I can think of are obvious, change oil,and air filter, crawl under TV inspect everything ! Pack tools air compressor, check jack, spare tires....idk, ?
We are still on schedule,DW will be traveling north to Port Clinton, for a family grad party,on the 9th,I plan to roll on the 10th,and hope to make mid Iowa on first day.
I still have not made res.in black hills area.hope to have enough $ to stay at rafter j,I won't know until first wk o June, I have invoices out for jobs completed, just depends when they are payed. Had security installed in house this wk.hopefully some peace o mind. Hope we (all of us)have Happy Camping !

We were there in the mid '90s... it doesn't look a whole lot different now than it did then! You wonder if the sculptors might age out - then who would take over the job. Apparently the tribe sponsoring this must not have a casino, with oodles of money rolling in! LOL

We are well underway, spent the night at a rest stop close to moline. Heading west into Iowa, up to I-90, then west across Minnesota.

OK a question maybe someone here can answer. We are scheduled to pull out of the Rushmore area Sunday morning and have not been to the Badlands. We could take that route home and spend a couple hours but are not sure we will be able see much while towing the TT. I assume there are many overlooks but am wondering if they are accommodating to towing vehicle? I would hate to get there and only see sights through the vehicle windows. We could possibly stay in that area for a night which we are considering doing. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hey we are just on the west side of Mitchell overnighting tonight too. The badlands was a great drive and easily maneuverable towing the TT. Plenty of spacious parking lots to park and check out the overlooks. An awesome sight there.
