I like Horsethief campground myself. I have stayed there many years for Sturgis rally trips. Going again this year.

We rely upon RVPARKY.com. They also offer an app. They seem to show at least 80% of the parks, with user reviews. I agree that Spearfish is a nice area, on the edge of the hills. Renting an ATV in Custer is the best way to see the Needles highway and lots of beautiful trails. You can drive them on the roads. There is also an app that the state has linked with, which acts like a good for all the trails. The renting agencies will tell you all about it. Have fun!
