Camping at or Near Teddy Roosevelt National Park

My husband and I are going to TRNP in August. Reviews of nearby private campgrounds aren't promising. We're thinking about camping in the park even though there's no electrical or water. You can only reserve a few sites and they're all full for dates of our stay. Just wondering if taking a chance on the non-reservable sites isn't a big risk. I don't want to stay in a private park inhabited by oil workers so in park seems the best choice. Just afraid there won't be sites and we'll be SOL. Advice is appreciated.
