CGs in or near WI that allow camping on a river/lake?

Hello people,
Looking for the best campgrounds in or very near Wisconsin that allow you to camp directly on a river or lake. The Apple River Family Campground has spoiled me to no end, nothing as fun as fishing from your campsite. Thanks for any info you will share.

In a van down by the river. Ha Ha Ha love it! RIP Chris.

Don't know exactly where your at but a really nice CG right on the river (mississippi) is Pettibone CG in La Crosse WI. Some spots you can get your line wet while still sitting under your awning. If you want more info PM me.

Near the Wisconsin Dells, check out River Bay campground.

Lake Joy in Belmont has lake front sites. Both CGs in Brodhead also are on the water.

If you are going to camp on the lake or river hope you have an amphibious RV.

Solberg Lake / Phillips County Park north of Phillips, WI. Beautiful wooded sites on a lake with good fishing. No reservations taken, first come, first served.

Just want to move this thread back to the top. Any other campgrounds that have sites on the water?? I've only heard of Pettibone rv in Lacrosse and where we stay each year Apple River in Sommerset WI. Would appreciate knowing of some more in Wisconsin.

State Forests and Parks

There are some nice sites at Brunet Island State Park, north of Eau Claire near Cornell. The Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest near Minocqua also has a number of lakeside campsites in their 18 campgrounds. They might not be right on the waters edge but they will be quite close. Merrick has some waterfront sites on the Mississippi River near Fountain City.
