Diamond mine in arkansas

It's a state park in SW Arkansas. You get to keep what you find and they will help you identify what you find. If you like gold rush or adventure it can be fun. They have a diamond found every week it seems accordingly to website. It's on the state lincese plate. Think it's called crater of diamond around Murfreesboro. Just throwing it out for people looking for a trip in the summer. After a rain is the best time to find as you can walk around and look for what Mother Nature exposes for you.

Been there....done that!!!!.....yep...We live in NE Arkansas....it's in the SW corner....fun time but not in the heat of the summer.....they have all the tools one needs for their visitors to use exploring plus they plow the fields often to turn up new soil.

We mined last year. Had a great time. Stayed at the State park for a week. Great time. Watch it on the summertime, bring something for shade(umbrella) and plenty of cold drinks. The summer sun is brutal.

Is it worth it? Sure.It is a fun time. There is several people that live close and go every day. Wife had real good time. I had the gout and didn't walk around much. Go just to say you've been there.

The camp ground is great. It was updated 2-3 yrs ago in is very nice. To break the diamond fever we took a day off and went up to Mt Ida for some Quartz mining. As I said before, have some kind of shade, plenty of water and clothes that you don't ming getting filthy

Diamond Crater

It is fun with kids so excited about finding diamonds... but avoid August! Imagine a BIG DIRT PIT in the hot sun with very little shade...and lots of work ahead.
Arkansas is a very pretty state to visit so if you go check out other cities when planning. Ones with trees for shade!!!

For the Veterans that plan to go you get 50% off. 2 weeks for the price of 1. Close by is a race track, walmart, and more things to check out. We usually go AFTER school starts than weekdays there is not many visitors and a few more during the weekend. My favorite time was a few years ago on Saturday night a lone trumpeter played a few songs one was Ava Maria the the final song was TAPS, even nature was silent after that.
