Onondaga Cave State Park Campground Host Duties
Leasburg, Mo.
Main duties:
• Greet visitors
• Collect camping fees
• Sell firewood and ice
• Complete financial reports in the fee booth at the end of each day
• Check restrooms for toilet paper and maintenance issues
• Post camping tags
• Distribute park brochures and interpretive program fliers
• Check restrooms at picnic shelter
Possible other duties:
• Go through and refill all first aid kits in park
• Break up Styrofoam into packing size pieces
• Put tour tickets in rubber banded groups of 30
• Clean out fire rings
• Visitor center garden maintenance
• Make repairs from campsite to campsite - assessment list provided
• Assist each morning with opening procedures at the visitor center
• Occasionally fold and resupply T-shirts in gift shop
• Help with mowing or weed eating
• Identify expertise (i.e. former auto mechanic) and make use of it
• Represent the park at identified functions for marketing purposes
• Make the recycling runs to Rolla
• Make brochure runs to the surrounding area for distribution
• Coordinate and lead volunteer projects
• Give cave tours and evening programs
• Assist naturalist with the Sunday morning geology and artifact program
• Work at visitor center information desk
• Assist naturalist with the eradication program to eliminate certain exotic plants
• Wash and/or blow off shelter, campsite pads, sidewalks, etc.
• Prune trees, shrubbery, etc.
