Good first campsite near Twin Cities?

Hey all! Just picked up my Surveyor 201RBS and am looking for a good place for my first night or 2 camping near the Twin Cities .... Any suggestions? Thanks! Looking to keep it local just in case.

Avatan is nice, about 40 miles north of the twin cities. We are members there. Cleanest pool I have ever been in.

State and county parks are all over the twin cites. It really depends if you are on the west, south, east or north side of town.
I'm on the east so Willow River and St. Croix parks are nice and easy.

Apple River Family campground in Sommerset WI our favorite place to camp! right on the river! about 1 hour from the Twin citys. very busy on weekends but if you able to camp during the week you can find yourself with an acre of land on the river to yourself.

lake byllesby campground is just south of the cities and close to hy 52. The cub scouts do a huge event down there every summer. Treasure Island casino has a rv park on the Mississippi, great views and not intended for families/quiet camping. Lebannon Hills has a campground, it's a 31 square mile park right in the middle of the southern suburbs with lots of trees, trails, and lakes.
Check them out to make sure they suit your needs. I haven't stayed at any because I live nearby.

Mystic is always nice to with the big pull through sites and sewer at each one. You can take your time dumping when you're still learning things. I think that is where we're going to go our first time out this year and do the spring cleaning.

I didn't even think of Mystic, they are usually pretty top shelf about most things.

Thanks everyone! I ended up going to Crow Wing state park (electric site) and had a blast! Really love the Surveyor 201RBS and had no problems. Took my time with water fill and set up, and at the end took extra time on dumping black and gray water, and had no issues at all!

Now we just need better weather. still.
