Gulf Coast Here we Come

My wife and dog and I are in the final planning stages for a 6 week trip from Iowa down through Missouri, into Mississippi, Alabama and winding up on the gulf coast.
I would welcome any recommendations anyone has for camping along the way as well as when we get there.
We like to stay in Corp of Engineer campgrounds as much as we can as we have the magic 50% off card. I know there are no COE campgrounds in the gulf coast area but there seems to be plenty in northern Mississippi and central Alabama.
Thanks for any help you are willing to give. We leave on February 9.

Most of the COA campgrounds in the Middle Tennessee area seem to be closed until spring. :-( There are some nice state parks, though.

Good stop on the way down in northern MS is Hernando Point COE campground near Memphis. Nice campground with access to Memphis attractions and casinos at Tunica.

Thanks all and it looks like we were all pretty much on the same page when it comes to COE campgrounds along the way and the state park in FL and AL.
Appreciate your help.
