Gulf Shores, Alabama

Curious to know if anyone has stayed at the Gulf Shores State Park Campground? We just booked a week down there, looks like a really nice campground. Will be headed down for a summer vacation in July. I'm sure it'll be ridiculously hot at that time.

Stayed there 7 days. Loved it. Beach is across the road. There are no fire pits for a campfire. they do allow above ground fire pit stands. Wally world is close by and I bought one from them. is close to an area for you to plan a lot of day trips. took a car ferry out to an island.

Thanks for the input. Is it a safe bike ride to the beach? I rather not have to jump in the truck every time we want to go to the beach. Thanks!

Riding bikes in the campground is great. It is safe to ride bikes to beach, very close. The whole area is very safe and easy to get around in. We even drove from there to Pensacola Fl. to see the Blue Angles fly (may not be on schedule when you are there). You can spend a couple of days going through the plane museums (Free and on the airbase at Pensacola, there is a visitors entrance and easy to get to the museums). About 45 minute drive away along the coastal highway and well worth the drive. We also drove to Mobile, Bay and toured the 'Alabama'. Also take the car ferry out to the civil war island fort. There is a lot to do in the area of Gulf Shores. plan your days and they will all be packed with great things to do. Enjoy
