Gulf Shores Alabama

Will be taking a winter trip to Gulf Shores State Park in 2018-2019 season. Anyone that has experience with this park we would appreciate your input. This will be our first winter of retirement. Thanks and safe travels.

We spent 10 days there this summer. We have gone several times during the winter/early spring and even once in the fall.

We LOVE the campground, the area and the Gulf.

Red ants can be a problem, according to which site you get and where they happen to be at the time. Gators can be a nuisance on some of the lake front sites, but are fascinating to watch. Most sites are pretty spacious and plenty of room between sites. My biggest complaint is that the sewer outlet is about 5" above the ground and you know that " s*(t down run uphill"! The bath houses are always clean, much cleaner than the bathroom in our camper, according to my DH.

Lots of good restaurants in the area, the weather can be iffy in the winter - may be 70 degrees or it may be 35 degrees. 35 degrees at the beach can be downright COLD!

Enjoy yourself. Check out Dauphin Island, Fort Morgan, Pensacola areas while you are there.

Hi,

We have spent two winter months there several times, and would echo the above post, adding that there are many miles of excellent paved bike trails.

FWIW.

Thanks for your comments, I believe we are going to go ahead with plans and hope weather is favorable. Sounds like a nice area to be in.
