Gulf Shores Shrimp Festival Oct 2019

I just heard that the 2019 Shrimp Festival in Gulf Shores Alabama is set for Thursday Oct 10th to Sunday Oct 13th.
Four days to eat as much seafood as you can and still walk back to your rig.

Anyway, I will be in the area and have made reservations for all 4 days at the Gulf Breeze RV Resort a few miles north of the coast.
19800 Oak Road West
Gulf Shores, AL
251-968-8462
$40 a night for pull thru, with full hookup, Cable TV, Wifi

This is our first time there so anyone who have done this please let us know how much we can eat daily....
Anyone care to join me?

John (AKA Frog #1 - Iggy)

Maybe Deborah should look in to moving BamaGanza here. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone. The rates are not bad and looks like they have a clubhouse.

gulf

Gulf Breeze is a clean kept park. We stay there during baseball rotations each summer... Indoor pool.

There is everything to do. Suggest a day at Penacola air musuem excellent site, ferry ride over to the west side of the bay then drive back via 10, large outlet mall, lamberts for the kids...

Fuel up around I-10 it goes up as you go south...

Iggy,

As said in some of our private messages, we have been attending the National Shrimp Festival since 1996, except for a couple of years when medical problems prevented us from making the trip. We even endured Hurricane Michael's visit last year. They have never even come close to running out of shrimp.

Now we have 3 Frogs going to the Shrimp Festival.
I will be there on the 10th and leave the 14th.
Look for my Georgetown with Arizona plates and back window full of stickers where I have been.

seizethebay, we stay at Luxury RV Resort, it is only 3 blocks from the Festival activities, so we don't have to worry about parking. However, they book up a year in advance. We always make our reservations when we check in for the next year.

There are numerous campgrounds in the area, some of the favorite ones are Gulf Breeze, Gulf State Park and Island Retreat.

Being on the Gulf of Mexico, there is always the possibility of hurricanes, we have been going every year since 1996, and have only had problems with hurricanes very few times, like last year when Hurricane Michael decided to visit.. However, as you problem know if you are going down for hurricane relief, it hit the panhandle of Florida.

For more information about the festival, Google National Shrimp Festival. We'll be at Luxury RV Resort, probably around site #5, Rockwood Signature Ultralight, 8315BSS

Attached is a picture from last years Festival.

Gulf State Park is what we did in 2019. Great park, beautiful sight lines, free beach access with walkways to the beach and a free shuttle to shrimp fest!

Gulf Shores Shrimp Festival Oct 2019

I sure hope things get back to normal by then.
I am currently camphosting at Sugar Sands RV resort in Gulf Shores and things are not looking good right now. Only about a third of our sites are occupied, and those by snow birds still hanging out. No newcomers allowed in, for now.

Good try! I remember you were not happy last year since BAMAGANZA "interfered" with the shrimp festival. Most BAMAGANZA folks are quite content with Gadsden for that rally.

Winter at Pandion Ridge RV resort and left early at the end of March. Everything was closed and most snowbirds were leaving early to go home. Park was only 1/3 full when we left. Normally mostly full in April with spring campers coming in.

Very different end to this year winter get away, but will be back next year.
