Gulfport thru New Orleans

Planning on visiting the Gulf Coast this summer.
Any great campground recommendations.
Any where from Gulfport, Mississippi to New Orleans.
Have a 38 foot Class A

Gulf breeze RV Resort is a very nice place, stayed there a week last January. If you are coming across I-10 in Louisiana take it slow, I've seen better logging roads in the woods.

St Bernard State Park is very nice and a few minutes from New Orleans.

Last summer on our way to Destin we stayed at Fontainebleau State Park and on the way back at Pontchartrain Landing.

Both casinos in Bay St. Louis have campgrounds; Also Buccaneer state park in Waveland is all new and first class

Buccaneer or Fontainebleau State Parks would be my choice. If you will be doing more on the MS side and the coast then Buccaneer.

Just came across I10 and most of the trip was good roads they have been repaved lately. Traveled in our MH towing our Chevy Cruze.

What state were you in? La. certainlly hasn't been repaved and I-12 is full of construction projects

I am dreading the I10 West journey we have planned going to Lake Charles from Florida. Now if that road has been repaved, it will definitely be a blessing for the 5th wheel.

Fairview State Park, Tickfaw state park or Fointainbleau State Park all good stops.

Buccaneer Sate Park near Waveland/Bay St Louis is a good location to visit both NOLA and Gulfport/Biloxi area. If you have kids they have a water park there near the front of the park. If you want to camp with a Gulf view, they have spots overlooking the beach highway (2 lane low traffic road) and the Gulf. These are also next to the pool/water park so it might be busy during the summer. The rear of the park has nice, more private camping spots. I have also stayed down the beach road (1 or 2 miles further) at the Silver Slipper Casino RV park. These are full hookups with great Gulf views (there are only two rows with concrete pads and picnic table). NO bathhouses! No play areas for kids! They have also added another camping area next to the original, but the original is best. I think they were $25 per night and they give you a free night or two if you sign up for a players card in the casino (casino about 3/4 mile further down beach road). This place was great for just my wife and I but I would not recommend it for kids. There is a marsh behind the second row of campsites and I would guess it would be mosquito ridden in the summer. Driving from this area to Gulfport PLEASE use Hwy 90. This is very scenic and in the Gulfport/Biloxi area make sure you see the Katrina Trees.

There is a very nice rv resort within blocks of the French Quarter....French Quarter RV resort. Pricey but within walking distance to all the sights in N.O. We are headed back for Mardi Gras in February. We felt safe traveling around the area during the day.

My wife and I are traveling from coast of NC to Atlanta overnight then to Alabama Mississippi then to New Orleans in April what are must see's we have never been in the area before we're going to take about 2 weeks so we have plenty of time to visit all info would be appreciated Thanks

We have stayed in Slidell, can't remember the park, but it was just off I-12, near the Causeway. Easy access into New Orleans. Nice park.

We stayed at Ponchatrain Landing. Its a 5 minute drive into parking and access to the French Quarter. We parked all day for 3 dollars. The lot that we parked is at the RV park walking distance to the FQ. I thought Ponchatrain Landing was OK but not cheap and very dusty. They do have a restaurant and bar and we were on the cannel. If we go again we would stay at the downtown RV park . I don't know the name.

New Orleans must sees are Cafe Du Monde, WW II Museum, Jackson Square, Riverwalk and the Aquarium of the Americas is nice. Must eat restaurants are Dragos, Don,s Seafood, Acme Oyster House.

Just be careful where you go in NOLA some places you may not come back from. You will see signs that tell you it is not a safe area. Just recently a Police Officer from Ireland got shot going to be ok but was close. I live about 60 miles from their and never go their unless I have a big stick as they say under my shirt.
