Hot Springs SD KOA

This summer isn't over yet and we're talking about next year. Planning our trip from Cincinnati to Mt. Rushmore. Planning on staying at the Hot Springs KOA. A little out of the way, but not likely as crowded as Custer or Rapid City. Has anyone stayed at this KOA? Any comments pro or con would be appreciated.

We stayed at this place in June.

Happy Holiday RV Park
8990 U.S. 16
Rapid City, SD 5770

Reptile Garden right across HWY 16 and a short drive to Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Deadwood, Lead, Sturgis.

It was not crowded while/when we were there.

I was just out there last month. I drove through the Rushmore KOA. It is very nice, but you're right it was crowded.

I was stationed at the air force base at rapid city for 7 years. My all time favorite campground was Horse Thief Campground in Hill City Sd. Close to everything and the campground was the best!
